Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When a hardworking single mom starts a side job as a rideshare driver to help pay for her daughter’s college tuition, she becomes the unrelenting obsession of a mysterious rider with a dark past. Stars Patrice Goodman, and David D. Wilson (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

A woman rideshare driver named Patricia is attacked by a masked assailant and thrown into the trunk of a car. It is legitimately scary, and I’m about to tap out of this movie!!!

One Year later, we meet Angela. She is a single mother trying to make ends meet and picks up a side hustle as a rideshare driver for the company 2Go. (The same one Patrice drove for!) Angela’s daughter, Brianna, is concerned for her mother’s safety, but Angela’s BFF DJ convinces Brianna that Rideshare driving is safe!

Angela deals with the regular drunk guy or the occasional quiet hunk. She picks up a man named Aaron, who implants medical devices. He falls asleep in the back seat while Angela overshares about her dead husband and teenage daughter. When she drops Aaron off at home, he tips her $15 bucks!

After a few weekends, Angela feels like he has got a handle on things. That is until she picks up a creepy guy named John. He asks Angela for her number and refuses to get out of the car until she gives it to him because they have a “connection.” Angela freaks out and honks the horn for help. Aaron, of all people, shows up and scares off the man. (But why was he there? Maybe Aaron is the one Angela should be wary of.)

Angela reports the incident to her company and the close John’s account. The only problem is that John isn’t really his name; the man is a janitor at Aaron’s work, and he is wearing a bad wig pretending to be John.

Aaron keeps popping up in Angela’s life, and they run into one another at the grocery store. He has an age-appropriate nephew for Brianna, so she invites the men over for dinner impulsively. They accepted, and Angela gave Aaron her address.

The dinner goes well and both couples seem to have a nice time. Aaron ends the night with a hostess gift, LEAF EARRINGS?!?! Angela gives them back and tells Aaron it is too personal of a gift.

Before they leave, Jason (Aaron’s nephew) tells Brianna the tragic story about his uncle. Aaron has blown a lot of his money on private investigators looking into the disappearance of his wife and daughter. Jason pinky swears Brianna to secrecy. (It doesn’t seem like it is a secret she will be able to keep, and she doesn’t. She tells her mother immediately.)

Brianna and Angela come home after a day of shopping and notice the door is unlocked. Angela busts out a taser and goes in! They search the house and find nothing. (Whoever broke in installed hidden cameras around the house and watches them search while breathing heavily.)

Angela goes out with DJ for drinks after work, and they run into Aaron. DJ thinks it is all too convenient and is suspicious of her friend’s new acquaintance.

DJ isn’t the only one who thinks Angela and Aaron going on a second date is a good idea. Aaron’s sister Whitney tells her brother that it is too soon and worries that he isn’t ready. Aaron isn’t ready because when he goes on a date with Angela and sees her talking with another man, he gets jealous.

The Janitor pulls Aaron aside and tells him they need to talk. Jason sees his uncle talking and knows that Aaron paid a guy to act like a creep, so Aaron could swoop in an be the hero. Jason tells his uncle to “chill.” and promises not to mention it to Brianna. Jason starts to notice his uncle’s shady dealings.

Whitney orders a rideshare to get the scoop on Angela. She tells Angela to be careful dating Aaron because he is vulnerable. That doesn’t stop Angela from falling for Aaron, especially because he love bombs her with flowers and attention.

Angela finally starts to see some red flags when Aaron orders for her at a restaurant and when DJ IS MURDERED!!!!!!! Angela gives the relationship some space, and Brianna even turns Aaron away when he stops by unannounced. He creeps Brianna out, and she texts her mom on FaceTime. Angela tells Brianna that Aaron has been acting needy and uncomfortable, so Angela breaks it off with Aaron in person.

Aaron and Angela meet up for a run; she finds a tracker in her car and freaks out. Then she goes on an angry run.

Jason is watching his iPad when he sees a story about the Janitor dying in an alley. He calls Brianna and warns her about his uncle. Brianna tries to call her mom, but Angela is on an intense run. Brianna and Jason bust into Aaron’s room and find all the evidence they need of Aaron’s stalking behavior, even video footage of Angela’s bathroom. They find pictures of photos of Aaron with women; he is trying to replace his dead wife and daughter.

Angela finally stops running to check her phone and gets a message from Brianna that Aaron is dangerous. She fights him off and continues to run through the woods.

Brianna and Jason find the tracker app and call the police with Angela’s approximate location. Then they rush to help, too.

Aaron admits to killing everyone, and Angela knocks him out with a log or whatever. The police arrest Aaron, and the mother and daughter are safe and reunited under a plastic warming blanket. THE END!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

Overall, it is a well-paced story with compelling leads.

  1. I’m sorry but this movie was not that good. The acting was terrible, especially the daughter who overacted in her few scenes. And the story was unoriginal. Only original thing abt it was that the leading lady was a rideshare driver which was how she met her stalker. I thought this was going to be a twisty edge of the seat thriller like ‘driven to murder’ but I was wrong.

  2. First of all, I see lmn is back to having the “scary black man” be the suspect and ultimately the criminal. For awhile they seemed to be doing less of that. But apparently its they’ve fallen back into that ridiculous and insulting story telling. The script writers must be lazy ?! Second of all, did Aaron kill his wife and daughter or did they really “disappear “, get Abducted etc by someone else?
