Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts on an island community where a man with a bag is involved in a shady business. He calls 911 and breathes heavily before driving off with a truck filled with gasoline in the truck bed. He drives to someone’s house, kicks in the door, and kills the residents.

Faye is a 911 operator who is training a new kid named Jake. He isn’t used to the small-town vibe and takes calls with Faye’s guidance. She is a professional and very calm under pressure. Faye tries not to let the work get to her. Her captain tells them they can only do so much over the phone.

Faye leaves for the night to see her daughter, Alex, who is from college. Her husband, Chris, is recovering from an injury at work and being taken care of by a slut named Stella. (Faye is not a fan and thinks Stella being on the island is VERY random.) Still, they invite Stella to family game night even though Chris and Faye are not doing well.

The station calls in and needs Faye to help when the night shift staff gets food poisoning. Jake and Faye are pulling a double. A call from an unknown caller about a home invasion. The woman on the other line doesn’t answer Faye’s questions directly and starts asking Faye about her family. The woman tells Faye that she has known her from a long time. The voice changes, and it is that of a creepy man. He murdered everyone today and is doing it all for Feye.

The caller tells Feye not to warn anyone, or he will kill her family. Feye texts her chief and has her family on Facetime. The caller calls back and knows she texted someone. Jake and Faye barricade the station, and she warns her family. Then, a police officer bangs on the door with evidence from the crime scene.
The chief calls in, and someone cuts his throat on the call. The chief is by the hospital, and the hospital goes into lockdown. (I guess the chief dies?)
Jake calls his wife and puts a wellness check-in for her instead of trying to find the killer, which is sus.

Faye discovers that a delivery of balloons and a teddy bear have a nanny cam in them. That’s how the caller knew what she was doing.
Feye looks through call logs and learns the killer came on a ferry and threatened Jake to work with him or the caller would kill Jake’s wife. Feye confronts Jake, and he pulls a knife on her. She explains that they aren’t being watched anymore and that they can figure this out together. Jake realizes he must work with Faye and starts listening to call logs to see who might have a vendetta against Feye.

They find a house fire where a mother and son died because of Feye’s poor work on the call. Feye was in training and sent the fire trucks to the wrong house. Michael Drake was the husband and father who is out for revenge. Feye calls him and apologizes for making a mistake, like that will make it all right! Michael says he will spare her family if she helps him make his final kill for the night.
Jake and Feye try to figure out who will be next and think the judge will be next. They call and try to warn him but end up listening to him being chased by Michael. Arnold, the town handyman, throws a nail strip and stops Michael from chasing the judge.
I’m not sure what exactly is going on. The voices all sound the same and I’m losing the thread at this point.

Slut Stella turns out to be working with Michael and is his sister. Feye tries to run and save her family, but Jake locks her in a jail cell because his pregnant wife is still being held captive. A drunk tries to stop Jake, but Jake accidentally stabs him. Feye grabs a hammer, knocks Jake out, and runs for it.
Feye ends up at the fire-burned abandoned house and defends herself with an ice scraper. Michael leaves a laptop with a video for Feye. The family and Jake’s wife aren’t in the house; they are in horse stables with hay. Michael pours gasoline everywhere and plans to burn them all. Slut Stella has a change of heart and doesn’t want to go through with it, but Michael convinces her.
Then Slut Stella DOES have a change of heart when she learns Jake’s wife is pregnant and unties her.

Feye rushes in and knocks Michael out with a crowbar. He still lights that hay on fire and overpowers Feye. All looks lost for Feye and her family, but she continues to fight in the burning barn. Feye knocks Michael out with something else, grabs the keys, and frees her family. Everyone loves each other now. The end!
Stray Thoughts
A very convoluted plot that never seemed to end.
Where were the other police? They have more 911 operators than they do police in this town.

Loved this movie but was confusing at times. The ending reminded me of the film ‘the boy next door’ with Jennifer Lopez. Knew the caregiver was sketchy from the moment I laid eyes on her.
A real yawn.
I thought this was good too! The plot will start to make sense once you really pay attention to it.
