Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Gabi’s search for her missing pregnant stepsister takes a chilling turn when her sister’s body is found and the baby is gone. Determined to find the child and get justice, Gabi risks everything to unravel the truth behind the tragedy. Anna Marie Dobbins, and Brittney Q. Hill (2025).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

VERY pregnant

A pregnant brunette named Eliza touches up her makeup while leaving a voicemail for her friend Gabi, who is in Paris. A car picks up the pregnant woman and takes her to a remote cabin, where someone in all black attacks her.

Two weeks later, Gabi is back from Paris with a long bob and some wide-legged jeans. (Anna Marie Dobbins is always on trend.) She is worried about her step-sister Eliza because she should have had the baby by now, but she is MIA. Gabi talks to a neighbor named Cindy and a judgey detective.

We flash back to the last conversation the sisters had. Eliza was dating a mystery man, whom she didn’t want to share too many details about. Eliza called him Blue, so Gabi has very little to go on.

Next, Gabi goes to Eliza’s work and talks with a co-worker named Kate. Kate noticed Eliza crying at her desk and was also worried about her. Gabi and Kate find inconsistencies in Eliza’s story. She didn’t tell Kate about Gabi being her stepsister or about taking a trip to visit her in Paris. The sisters were fighting over a loan, and Eliza recently broke up with her boyfriend, Jared.

Strange things start happening as Gabi digs deeper. She gets threatening messages from someone with bad handwriting, and Eliza’s ex, Jared, is found snooping through Eliza’s house.

Gabi gets a call from the judgey detective with bad news: Eliza is dead. Her body was found by a jogger in the woods, and the baby is missing! Gabi freaks out at the funeral and has to find her step-sister’s baby. Jared comforts Gabi and tells her they will figure it out. Kate and her husband also pay their respects at the funeral, and weirdly, Kate offers Gabi a job to help pay the bills while she is in town.

Gabi does some research on her new employer and learns that Kate recently got divorced from a co-worker named Adien. The drama at work doesn’t stop there. Eliza was working on a project with Adien, and they may have been more than co-workers because the project had no wrap-up notes. When Gabi brings it up, Aiden brushes it off. Kate offers to hire a private investigator for her new work friend.

Jared got hit by a car and totally forgoten about

WTF?!?! Jared gets hit by a car and dies, or maybe he is in a coma.

Gabi tries to muster up tears while Judgey Detective asks her if she has friends she can stay with. (No, Judgey Detective! All Gabi’s friends are in PARIS!) The same night, Gabi finds a bar napkin in Eliza’s things and investigates. She talks to a bartender, Marcus, who remembers meeting Eliza, who was sad and drunk at the bar. The bartender gave her a ride home and tucked her into bed while Eliza talked about Blue standing her up. Blue was banging on the door, and the bartender snuck out the back door to avoid trouble.

She served no purpose in this movie, but I liked her wine consumption

A co-worker named Marina gets wine drunk at happy hour and talks about all the work gossip. None of it is really THAT good, but Gabi keeps that wine flowing, just in case.

Gabi works with Aiden on a project to see if he knows more than he is letting on. She stays late and hears a noise in the office, and someone is lurking after hours. It’s Marina, she was trying to cover her tracks for sabotaging Eliza’s last project with Aiden.

Eliza goes back to Bartender Marcus for more information. He tells Gabi that Eliza and him did meet up for a thank you drink. Eliza was caught up in something more sinister with Blue. He also tells her that people at the bar are baby snatchers for wealthy couples. (This movie is so random.) As she leaves, Gabi is attacked, but Bartender Marcus scares off the assailant.

Umm, sure, the baby is just there. Ok!

Gabi goes to an adoption agency to pretend to be interested in getting a baby. The woman working there, Abigail, is not helpful. This leaves Gabi with no choice but to steal files to see what is REALLY going on. Somehow, they find a room with the baby inside and take her. A random man jumps out and fights with Marcus, while Gabi runs away with the baby. The police take the baby into custody while they figure out what is going on and run a DNA test.

The movie doesn’t end there. Gabi is sure that Aiden sold the baby to the adoption agency and goes to the remote cabin where Eliza was when she was attacked.

No one is home when Gabi arrives, and she sets her phone to record. She is surprised when Kate’s husband, Jake, shows up with groceries. She asks Jake about the PI they were going to hire, and Jake slips up and calls the PI by a different name. Gabi knows something is off.

Aiden shows up, and Gabi helps him unpack his car. She sees some rope and duct tape and isn’t sure who killed her half sister. Aiden tells Gabi that the rope is for a team-building exercise.

Finally, Gabi puts things together and confronts Jake. Adien springs into action and tries to stop Jake, but Jake pulls out a gun, shoots a CGI bullet, and comes clean about Eliza. He was Blue and promised Eliza he would leave his wife, but then she got pregnant.

Kate interrupts, and Jake tries to explain while waving his gun around. While he is distracted, Gabi hits him in the head, and the police arrive to take him away.

Two Months Later. The baby was Eliza’s, and Jared is out of his coma. Kate adopts the baby with Aiden, and they are raising the baby together. The end!

STRAY Thoughts

They did Jared dirty!

This movie spent so much time trying to mislead the viewer that it ended up making the “twist” even more obvious. I wish Kate had been in on it, too.
