After recently separating from her husband, Anna embarks on a solo adventure. Using WanderNest, a home exchange website, she swaps homes with Aurora in Greece. Anna is toured around by Aurora’s charming handyman Niko, and a romance quickly ensues. However, her perfect getaway takes a turn as mysterious incidents and dark secrets gradually unfold. Stars Brianna Cohen, Peru Kavalieri, Vaggelis Papadakis and Julia Terranova (2025).
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie begins with someone being killed with a rock; oh well!

Cut to Julia and her client, Anna. Anna is selling her home due to a nasty divorce from her husband, David. Her latest book isn’t selling well, and her house is on the market. To make more money and get out of town, Anna joins an app called WanderNest.

Anna meets a fellow app user named Aurora from Greece, and they agree to swap homes. They chat on FaceTime, but something seems off. Anna decides to keep the trip from David because she wants to focus on writing. Before leaving, Anna asks Julia not to show the house for the next few weeks because of her new houseguest.

In Greece, Anna takes a bath while drinking wine and reading a book. (It sounds kind of nice.) The handyman, Niko, helps himself in and scares her half to death. He gives a gift (that has a hidden camera in it) from Aurora and recommends a cafe to get some writing done.
Anna writes at the cafe but doesn’t get much writing done when a college graduate student, Lena, is around. Lena wants to pick Anna’s brain and invites her to come to the bar where she works.
David finds out about the house swap when he shows up at the house for an open house and finds Aurora in his home. He calls his lawyer and is pissed. David calls Anna and tells her what happened, and she assures him everything is above board. David is worried about his soon-to-be ex-wife.

The invites to hang out keep coming, and Niko takes Anna out on a date. Lena ends up being their waitress and encourages Anna to pursue Niko because he is “hot.” (Not my particular cup of tea.) Someone follows them around and takes pictures of the couple on the date.
Lena sets up a coffee date and gushes over Anna’s new pages. Anna is flattered and inspired to keep writing. Lena asks Anna about Niko, and she says he is the perfect gentleman. Anna starts to think otherwise when he overhears Niko fighting with a woman in her car. She asks him about the argument, and Niko laughs it off.
A Private Investigator stops Anna in the street and tells her that he has been hired to follow her. Someone kills the PI before he can talk to Anna by strangling him from the back seat.

David begins researching online and exploring Aurora’s background and Greek home. Something is off, and he goes to the house to investigate and finds Aurora’s WanderNest login. He logs in and finds messages between Niko and Aurora.
It is time for Anna to leave, and someone breaks into her house and, deletes her new book from her laptop and steals the manuscript. Is it Lena stealing Anna’s ideas? Lena DOES have a serial killer wall dedicated to her favorite author. When Lena learns of the break-in, she offers to help rewrite the chapters. Anna is too depressed but agrees to go to dinner at Lena’s grandparents and sees the wall. Anna accuses Lena of setting it all up to manipulate her.
Anna vents to Niko, who tells her not to blame herself for having a stalker.

Lena tries to explain herself and says she is just visual and likes a vision board. Lena tells Anna that her grandparents say Niko is a bad guy, but Anna won’t hear it.
Lena is next to be murdered, and Anna’s BFF, Crystal, ends up in a coma VERY randomly. Anna books a flight home, and Niko makes her some tea to help her relax. Anna packs while drinking tea, and then she gets a message from David telling her Niko is a criminal and she isn’t safe. Before she can escape, Anna passes out.
Anna wakes up, and Niko acts all supportive. She is freaking out on the inside and asks him to make her a coffee so she can keep packing. As she packs, Crystal’s BFF knocks her out.

Crystal was pretending to be Aurora the whole time and hired an actress for the video call. Crystal is all diabolical, and I’m not really sure what this is all about. Crystal plans to kill Anna and make it look like a break-in. It is all a long-held grudge from when they were kids. Anna’s father was killed in a car crash, but the other car contained Crystal and her parents, who both died. Crystal blames Anna for ruining her life.

David shows up just in time to save Anna, and the police arrest Crystal.
Months later, Anna writes a bestseller and reunites with David.
STRAY Thoughts
Crystal being the bad guy is so random. Perhaps a more significant clue that the car crash is a pivotal life moment should have been included.

Rule 1 of any lifetime movie. If you begin investigating a character important to the plot, always check your backseat.
These people will never learn that lesson.
Yup Crystal being the perp was totally random. Bad writing.
Anna seemed super dumb!
Why was Crystal living in LA with a home in Greece and claiming little income how did she even have a home in Greece. Pretty stupid really.
I wrote an entire post and it disappeared. :-C I am actually very okay with the way it ended. Felt sorry for the handyman, but he also was not my type at all. I doubt the actor is that old, but he looked so much older than her. I was hoping when he cleaned up for the date, he would look cleaned up, but alas he didn’t. Looked like he just changed his clothes. Meh. The whole home exchange plot was so convoluted. How many years was this plan stewing for. Ridiculous. Not boring, but not a banger either.
