When Chelsea’s sister vanishes after a late-night shift at a diner, she has to convince the police to believe someone’s taken her. As she races against the clock, she discovers not only her sister’s life in danger, but the captor is now after her…and they’ll stop at nothing until both women are dead. Stars Sarah Grey, Amalia Williamson, Cody Ray Thompson, Nathan Dales, and Anna Hopkins (2025).
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts in the middle of the night. Hailey is driving through the woods and parks her car by some trees. She looks around the dark woods and gets out of the vehicle with a tote bag before being grabbed.
Cut to a diner, where the waitresses are dressed like they are in Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time music video. All the men in this diner sexually harass Hailey, except for a guy named Tim. Hailey’s sister, Chelsea, is a reporter and is married to a cop named Leo. Hailey is too busy to hang out because she is working double shifts to make enough money to attend dental hygienist school. It is a terrible place to work because the owner is having an affair with one of the waitresses named Miranda. He secretly records them in their dressing room, and someone is sending Hailey threatening messages.
Chelsea doesn’t want her sister to objectify herself at her job anymore, but Hailey says she can handle it. The sisters argue as a means to get out some exposition. Their dad recently died, and they are living in their father’s house. Hailey got addicted to Coke and spent all of her inheritance.
Hailey is up to some shenanigans. She hides things in her locker and the ceiling tiles and meets up with her ex-boyfriend Cam, accidentally pepper-spraying him. Cam tells Hailey that she looks like a whore when she works at the diner and insults her. She speeds off in her car and calls someone to meet at the spot. The spot in the woods where she is kidnapped/maybe killed. Hailey wakes up tied to a bed and screams for help!
The following day, Chelsea visits the diner to ask Tim to help fix their fridge and learns that Hailey didn’t show up for work. Chelsea frantically calls her sister and the dental hygienist school. She learns Hailey unenrolled as a student, so where has the tuition money been going? DRUGS?!?!?
Next, Hailey checks the halfway house where Cam lives, and he tells her that Hailey is a whore. CAM IS SO RUDE! Hailey calls her husband, the cop, and tells him she is coming to the station. Someone follows Chelsea in a black truck.
Leo can’t really help with the missing persons case because it would be a conflict of interest. Honestly, it doesn’t even seem like he wants to help. The sheriff promises to take the case seriously. Still, Chelsea does her own investigating and finds the planner in the locker.
The owner of the diner, Tony, ALSO calls Hailey a whore. (What is everyone’s problem in this movie!!! WTF!) Chelsea finds a photo of the sisters with their faces scratched out.
The kidnapper tries to drug Hailey with a ham sandwich, which isn’t really how things are done on Lifetime. Hailey eats the sandwich while she is tied up and, thanks her kidnapper for feeding her and then talks about her dad’s cancer. While the kidnapper is distracted, Hailey unties herself and tries to escape. She doesn’t get far and is tied back up.
In the diner owner’s office, Chelsea downloads the video footage from his computer while the diner is closed for the night. The computer must be running on Windows 95 because the downloading looks insane. Tony catches Chelsea, but once he sees it is her, he lets her go.
Chelsea reviews the footage and sees her sister go into the bathroom and then out to her car. Tony follows Hailey in his black truck. Chelsea calls Leo to tell her what she saw, but Tony confronts her in the driveway. Tony denies having anything to do with Hailey’s disappearance, and as they are talking, someone tries to run them over. Tony pushes Chelsea out of the way and ends up in a coma.
A random state trooper lady talks to Chelsea about her sister’s “loose morals” and her “sleeping around with married men.” (I’m like, gurl, shut up!) The conversation motivates Chelsea to sneak into the police precinct and steal evidence. AKA her sister’s phone. Leo obviously has a problem with it when he finds out.
Miranda, the other waitress, meets with Chelsea and helps her go through Hailey’s planner. They decoded some payments Hailey was receiving, and when she was scheduling money drops. Miranda retrieves the money from the bathroom ceiling, and they go to question the cook named Josh.
Police finally find Hailey’s car in the woods. (Seriously, WHAT have they been doing?) Chelsea finds a shed and tries to break in; the State Trooper lady catches her and chases after Chelsea. They come across the body of a missing hiker, who happens to be blonde. It isn’t Hailey, but it is still a dead body!
Police arrest Chelsea for obstruction of justice, and she is bailed out by Josh, NOT her husband, Leo. Chelsea sadly works on her birdhouse hobby and finds photos of Hailey and Tim canoodling. She rushes to Tim and sprays him with pepper spray. Leo shows up and tases Tim. (Don’t tase me, bro!)
Leo, who didn’t bail out his wife and wouldn’t help her steal evidence, suddenly lets her sit in on Tim’s questioning. Tim says Hailey wanted to run off together, and they met in the woods. She is pregnant with his baby. It seems like Tim kidnapped Hailey to get rid of the baby. Tim is released after questioning and gets in the back of Chelsea’s car. He holds her at knife point and forces her to drive to where her sister is being held captive. The lady state trooper is there, and her name is Sheryl. Sheryl wants the baby and is married to Tim.
Sheryl was just too random not to be involved. When Tim and Chelsea arrive, Tim explains that his wife is the mastermind behind everything. Sheryl became obsessed with Hailey’s baby after a string of miscarriages. Chelsea pretends to be listening, but the whole time, she has her eye on his knife. She stabs him and unlocks the shed where her sister is being held captive.
Chelsea grabs Sheryl, and a struggle ensues. Chelsea unties her sister, and they knock Sheryl out. Sheryl stabs Chelsea, but Leo pulls up and gets the sisters out of there.
Months later, Hailey graduates from Dental Hygienist school and has her baby. Who knows what happens to Tim and Lady State Trooper, and who cares because LOOK AT THS PHOTOSHOP!
STRAY Thoughts
This was the case of picking the most random person in the movie and making them the kidnapper. I pegged that female State Trooper from the get-go.
Chelsea and Leo, while both attractive people, had zero chemistry.
I really hate torture porn scenes. The stuff with Hailey tied up was too much.
