When Emily’s (Meagan Good, Think Like a Man) only child, Sophia (Hana Destiny Huggins, The Flash), leaves for college, she struggles with empty nest syndrome and searches for ways to reconnect with her husband, Tom (Thomas Cadrot). Craving intimacy, she enters a passionate affair with Carlo (Antonio Cupo), a brooding artist she meets at her gallery whose captivating presence hides something far more unhinged. But when Emily realizes her mistake and tries to sever ties, Carlo refuses to let go—exposing their secret, sabotaging her personal and professional life, and threatening everything she’s built. As she struggles to reclaim her marriage and sense of self, Emily is forced into a chilling confrontation that will test the limits of her strength—and how far she’ll go to protect her family.
Recap/Wine Thoughts

Helicopter mom/gallery director/breadwinner, Emily (Meagan Good), and her husband/stay-at-home dad, Tom, drop their daughter, Sophia, off at Berkeley College. The new empty nesters have a tense relationship from years of building up envy. (The grass is always greener.)

Emily is fierce at work and looks fantastic while taking pictures with an iPad. (That is what gallery people do, right?) Her co-workers are in panic mode when an artist drops out of a show at the last minute. If they don’t have a successful showing, Margo, the Gallery owner, will have to close.

Margo finds an Italian artist named Carlos, and he is HOT. Carlo and Emily make eyes, and her co-workers swoon over the new artist. (Who wouldn’t honestly?) Emily is married, let’s not forget, but Tom is withdrawn and uninterested in Emily sexually. When Tom flat-out refuses Emily’s advances, Emily takes a bubble bath with some wine. (Which in Lifeitme means she masturbates while fantasizing about Carlo.) Carlo might be the spice Emily is missing in her life.
Emily is tasked with keeping Carlo on schedule for the gallery’s opening, but he is Italian and passionate. So, he basically hits on Emily and laughs off her reserved nature. They agree on 10 pieces for the show, all while Carlo’s abs and pecs are on clear display. (He is an artist; who needs buttons!) The sexual tension is palpable.
Tom rejects Emily AGAIN, after a dinner date, saying that she is too drunk. Emily is sexy AF and practically throwing herself at her husband, and he is pumping the brakes? Emily has an emotional breakdown and worries that they are going to get divorced, now that Sophia is gone and off at college. They argue about the sacrifices they both made to raise their daughter.
Carlo works on his art and does press interviews. Emily keeps him on track, and he continues to attempt to seduce her with vino and romantic Italian tunes. He slow dances with Emily while asking her if she is happy in her marriage, and Emily lies, saying yes. Carlo kisses her hands a lot, and I have to know, Ladies… is that a turn on? Seems weird to me.

Things get hot and heavy, way more than hand kissing, and Emily does he walk of shame home at 12:07am with seven missed calls from her husband, and a parking ticket to top it all off. Emily goes home and washes the infidelity off in her shower before sneaking into bed with Tom. The next morning, she explains she was working late. Tom doesn’t even seem to notice anything is a miss and goes back to working on a book he is writing.

Carlo calls Emily and begs her to come back to his loft so he can make her breakfast. Emily shuts him down, but she is glowing at work, and her co-workers notice. Carlo is inspired by Emily and calls her his muse. Emily explains it was a one-time hook-up, but needs Carlo to keep producing art, and goes back to the loft for a pasta dinner. (I’m surprised they don’t Lady and Tramp a spaghetti noodle.) The one-time hook-up turns into two, and the illicit affair is on. Carlo takes photos of Emily while she sleeps and works on a portrait of Emily for the art show.
Emily learns about his plan to feature her in the show and tells him to delete the photo. Emily can’t stop sleeping with Carlo and eating pasta. Tom makes a subpar pasta dish with store-bought Parmesan, and finally starts to notice something is off with Emily. She is distracted and makes excuses to leave and see Carlo instead. (This time at DA CLUB!!!!) Carlo and Emily have sex in the bathroom while Sophia calls from college because she has been in a car accident.

Sophia comes home and joins her parents for the big gallery opening. Carlo unveils a naked picture of Emily and bed, and it causes immediate drama. Margo fires Emily on the spot, Tom and Sophia storm off, horrified, and Carlo gloats about “the truth setting one free.” The next morning, Emilt gets a call from Carlo and she tells him to never call her again, but Carlo is now obsessed. Carlo has a history of stalking and previous girlfriends have filed restraining orders against him in Italy.
Carlo finds Emily’s home and bangs on the door, screaming about wanting to be a family. Emily says that is not going to happen, so he keys her car. Emily tries to pretend like everything is normal with Tom and lies when he asks her directly if she was sleeping with Carlo. Emily says it was a “deep fake.” Tom is reluctant to believe her, especially after learning Emily has lost her lucrative job. They decide to sell their house and move to Berkley to be closer to Sophia.

At an open house for the home, Carlo puts in an all-cash offer and leaves a threatening note for Emily. He wants Emily to leave her husband for him, and if she won’t, he will tell Tom everything. Emily begs Carlo not to ruin her family, and he promises to walk out of her life if she gives him one last kiss. Emily reluctantly does so, but things get violent, and she maces him. (Should I be carrying mace?)

Tom and Emily rekindle their relationship and end that months-long intimacy drought. Little do they know Carlo is watching from outside, and he steals their dog from the backyard. Police think it is weird that someone would take their non-prize-winning dog. Emily comes clean about Carlo stalking her and being obsessive. (She leaves out the whole affair thing.) After the police leave, Emily tells Tom that she loves him… but she did sleep with Carlo. (It was a mistake and meant nothing!)

Carlo next shows up on campus and talks to Sophia. He pretends to be looking for an intern for his next exhibition and asks Sophia to coffee. They take a selfie, and he sends it to Emily after kidnapping Sophia and tying her up. He also ties up Tom in their home and packs a bag for Emily to come with him. (This escalated quickly!)
Emily rushes home to save her family from Carlo, who now has a gun. She calls 911 and cries to Carlo to stop hurting her family. She agrees to go with him and rushes Carlo out of the house, giving Tom time to get untied and retrieve a gun from the safe.

Tom and Carlo face off with some ninja moves. The police sirens sound in the background as they all fight over the gun. Emily shoots and kills Carlo and is reunited with her VERY forgiving family.
Tom finishes his book. The end!
STRAY Thoughts
Byron being so horny for Carlo was hilarious, literally me. (Meagan Good, please cast me as Sassy Gay (insert job) next time.)
Can I just say how consistently excellent Thomas Cadrot is on Lifetime? He always brings groundedness and well-fleshed-out characters to any film.

are you kidding me!?!? Yet another stupid movie where the woman cheats, because she said that she was being ignored, and rather than her going and telling her husband how she feels, she ends up banging another dude. Then, after he finds out and says he’s going to divorce her and kicks her out of the house, that same night the psycho boy-toy kidnapped the daughter ties up her and the husband. yeah, she kills the psycho but then, just like the wimp husband that’s always portrayed, he lets her get away with the cheating. The only way I would’ve done that would’ve been to tell her that, “at some point I’m gonna cheat on you and when it happens, I’m gonna tell you that it happened and I don’t wanna hear squat from you. If you’re not good with that, then let’s get a divorce right now!” As usual, the cheater gets away with it and the other spouse looks like a wuss
