A serious TV newscaster’s life changes when he meets his young superfan and the boy’s hardworking single mom. As he embraces positive holiday stories, romance blooms-but a career opportunity forces him to choose between ambition and love.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Tamera is raising a kid, Robbie, who wants to be a news reporter in 2025. He interviews a snowman on his way to school, and Robbie needs to chill. Tamera is not on board with this life path either, but he is pretty serious and made his class go to the local news station. Robbie carries around an imaginary microphone and interviews his teacher and classmates. I’m surprised he isn’t more popular.
Adam is KCYD’s top anchor. No one in Robbie’s class cares, but Robbie is OBSESSED! Robbie jumps into the co-anchor chair and roasts Adam, telling him he makes people feel bad about the world. After reviewing the footage, Adam offers Robbie an after-school job.
Tamera is like, WTF!?!?! My child is not working for FREE. Robbie begs his mother because it is his Christmas WISH. Robbie ends up set, and he produces Adam on air.
The week comes to an end, but not without Tamera debating the ethics of local news and wanting more FEELING in the stories they produce. Create a sense of community and don’t be such a bummer!
Adam gets scouted for a bigger network in Chicago. He is ambitious, but tries to take Tamera’s advice and produce a story about a local charity sponsored by Thrivent® (an actual sponsor, but my commercials weren’t limited). The spot doesn’t go over well, and Adam is put on leave for going off script.
With time off from work, Adam spends his time with Robbie and Tamera. They decorate the tree and drink wine. Tamera feels so comfortable with Adam now that she asks him to help with the kids’ pickup after school so she can work late at her beauty shop. Tamera has a hard time asking for help.
Tamera takes Adam to the salon to talk to her clients and co-workers about more heartwarming stories for the newscast. Tamera watches the news with Robbie every night.
Adam invites Tamera to his family’s Christmas. Even though he doesn’t see his family as often as he would like, he is too busy working. Adam and Tamera kiss, but he gets a call about a position in Chicago, and it spoils the romantic vibes. Tamera accuses Adam of just pretending to care about heart-warming stories for ratings and a promotion.
At Robbie’s Christmas recital, Adam shows up with a special interview idea. Robbie interviews Adam and charms the crowd. The interview also gets Tamera to forgive Adam. The end. Merry Christmas!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
If this were a real kid, he would want to be on YouTube.
