Amanda, a world-renowned pastry chef, is worried she’s losing her edge. Wanting to reclaim her title as the queen of Christmas cookies, she enters the Chicago Christmas Market Christmas Cookie Competition.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Amanda, a Chicago Pastry Chef, has a fledgling business based on PRINCIPLES and TRADITION. Nothing like cross-town rival KT Cinnamon, who makes a MACROBROWNIE, which is macarons and a brownie combined? (Sounds terrible.)
Amanda goes to her hometown to come up with recipe ideas with her best friend. They are going to use Joy to the World Fudge and melt it over a cookie. Too bad the owner, Auntie Jackie, is going to Finland for the holiday and leaving her nephew, Simon, in charge. (She takes her recipes with her to teach him a lesson.)
Simon is not prepared for the holiday rush, so Amanda helps him at The Little Shop of Fudge. When she finds out that the store is sold out of Joy to the World Fudge, and that Jackie is unreachable.
Amanda uses her chef skills and a riddle on the box to try to figure out the recipe. The first ingredient is Cider?
There is a weird B-Plot where Diana, Amanda’s best friend, tries to set her up with a guy named Kevin. He literally serenades her to try to convince Amanda to move home and date him.
Obviously, Amanda and Simon are actually vibing, and they work on figuring out the rest of the ingredients. They do take breaks to decorate a Christmas tree and randomly get into a Sauna. (We appreciate shirtless Christopher Russell. Even if he is weirdly cropped at the nipples?)
Simon is half Mexican, randomly? He talks about his Tio making mole from Guadalajara. Chipotle is the final missing ingredient! Yay, Mexico.
When Aunt Jackie comes home from vacation, she tells her nephew that he could never recreate Joy to the World fudge because that was her love story. He created his own love story with Amanda, and that was her plan all along.
Amanda wins the competition, and KT Cinnamon goes down.
