After inheriting her late mother’s declining Montana ranch, recently divorced Romy Taylor uncovers the remains of her long missing sister in the backyard while digging a garden.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Romy is going through a divorce, stuck in a rut, and having nightmares about a dead sister or something? She goes back to her family ranch in Montana and is the talk of the town.
At Taylor Ranch, Romy’s mom, Audrina, is excited for Romy to watch the ranch so she can take a much-needed vacation in Florida. Audrina has been having land disputes with a neighbor, and her dog has been her protector.
While shopping at the hardware store, Taylor flirts with the checkout guy and asks him to be her farmhand. His name is Chip, and he is a member of the rival family in town, the Slaters. He has freckles, and that will come back later.
Romy gets to work on the farm and accidentally digs up her sister’s dead body?!?!?!?!?!? They have a quick funeral, and Chip starts as the farmhand to help distract Romy from the tragic events. That doesn’t help because Romy finds Zara’s diary.
Murphy, a local cowboy, ends up on Romy’s property and freaks her out in the middle of the night. It isn’t Murphy she should be scared of; it is Brody. One of the Slater brothers starts dating Romy. (and searches through Zara’s diary.) He is too good to be true and seems too interested in her ranch. Brody also wants to keep the relationship a secret and gets pissed when he finds out she told her friend Emma.
Jackson, Romy’s dad, shows up in the middle of the night. Romy asks him about building the Taylor Ranch on the Slater property. That started the family feud.
Romy finds her sister’s diary in Brody’s bag and kicks him out of her house. Some pages have been torn out, specifically those about a boy Zara was dating, whom she nicknamed “Freckles.” Romy realizes that Chip is freckles and decides to talk to him about his relationship with Zara. When Romy tries to speak to Chip, he explodes in anger! Not a red flag there.
Chip knocks Romy out, locks her up, and tries to kill her like he killed her sister. Romy makes a run for it and hides in the woods. Chip says he hit Zara in the head with a rock by ACCIDENT and he buried the body by MISTAKE.
Romy stabs Chip in the leg with a pitchfork and runs back into the house to hide. Her trusty dog comes to the rescue and attacks Chip long enough for her to call for help. Only she doesn’t need to; Romy’s dad shoots Chip with a shotgun, and they both are arrested.
Romy and Brody keep dating, and she comes to terms with her sister’s death.
STRAY Thought
Romeo and Juliet story lines are so annoying; family feuds are like, don’t you have better things to do?
