Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When a harmless game turns deadly, three mothers become entangled in a world of paranoia and suspicion, where every secret is a threat and the pursuit of justice could cost them everything. Kate Watson and Philip Boyd star. (2026)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Three women looking apprehensive as they stand under a white tent while a police officer stands nearby, possibly at a crime scene.

Monica, dazed and confused, goes into a police tent at a crime scene to identify a body and screams.

Cut to one week earlier: Monica and her daughter, Hanna, discuss graduation. Anna wants her dad to come to her graduation, but Monica is separated from him and not on good terms with him.

Two young women sitting on a bed in a bedroom, one with a concerned expression and the other looking at her with curiosity. A large stuffed animal is beside them.

Hanna and her girlfriends come up with a challenge: to trick their boyfriends into flirting with other girls to “test” them. They make a Cheating pact. It is like the pregnant pact. It is all queen bee Charli’s idea, and Hanna worries that her mullet boyfriend, Hunter, might be mad if he finds out what they are up to. (We learn RANDOMLY that the friend shares a birthday and was born in the same hospital.)

Monica has a group of friends, too. Kim is in a marriage that is falling apart, and Bridget can’t believe they are going to have daughters in college.

A man in a brown shirt is speaking in a softly lit room with blue walls. There is a bed in the background and a framed mirror on the wall.
Hot

Hot college-age son Leo calls Hannah to check on his sister’s graduation and promises to get his dad there.

The Cheating pact goes unexpectedly awry, and we are back to the police tent. The body in the tent was Hannah!!!! (I actually did not expect this.

A tense scene featuring three people outdoors: a woman in a black dress looking down, a man in a dark suit standing with a serious expression, and another man in a black shirt sitting with a concerned look, surrounded by greenery.

Two weeks later, a memorial is held. The police determined that Hannah was alone and had blunt force trauma to the head from an accidental fall. Hannah’s phone is missing, and they think she is at KHS, and then lost her phone? That makes no sense. Hannah’s last text to her mother was, “I Love You, I’m Sorry.” Leo goes back to college and is pissed at his parents for making his last week before graduation stressful.

Monica and David want ANSWERS. They go to Hannah’s school and try to talk to Mullett, wearing Hunter, who straight up ignores them. The school counselor discusses Hannah’s bullying at school and gives Monica a journal she was keeping. An intruder breaks in, steals the journal, and wears YELLOW SNEAKERS.

A young woman in a polka dot dress and a young man in a maroon shirt engage in conversation on a beach, with palm trees in the background and a calm ocean.

Meanwhile, Charli and Meghan try to keep the Cheating Pact a secret. Their teenage feelings are at an all-time high. Charli made Hunter steal the journal, and when he is confronted about it, he folds like a house of cards, and he blows the secret about the cheating pact. Monica talks to Charli later and tries to get to the bottom of what the heck is going on.

All the parents get together, and Charlie’s mom promises that her daughter will apologize. Kim blames Megan for her daughter’s alleged evil and neglect. Their friend group might not survive this. Neither will David, who gets jumped by three guys and ends up with a collapsed lung and three broken ribs. Doug shows up and gives Monica a card for a support group.

A man and a woman are sitting close together on a bench, smiling and leaning in for a kiss in a park setting.

Doug and Charli’s mom are having an illicit affair, and Monica catches them kissing on a bench. She tries to call her friend Kim and let her know. Maybe Hannah found out as well?

At their joint birthday party for the three friends, Monica snoops through Charli’s room and finds a missing bracelet. Police arrest Monica for harassment.

Two women sit at a table in a dimly lit café, one pouring coffee into a cup while the other watches attentively. The scene promotes the movie 'Murder in Music City' airing on Lifetime.
She was pouring up that coffee

Once she is out of jail, Monica tells Kim about the affair she witnessed. Kim is supportive, but weirdly keeps filling Monica’s coffee, even though they are at a diner. Kim drugs Monica and kidnaps her.

Kim wants to keep up appearances and has been covering up everything. Kim chased Hannah, and a struggle ensued over the phone that sent Hannah falling to her death.

A tense nighttime scene by a waterfront where one woman is pointing a gun at another, who is sitting on the ground, while a third woman looks on anxiously.

Kim goes into her villain monologue and pulls out a gun. It is a lot. There is a struggle over the gun, and Kim admits to having David attacked. Kim really went all out for her family. Monica gets the gun and holds Kim until the police arrive.

The move struggles to stick the landing while Monica and Bridget have a heart-to-heart about Hannah being dead and Charli being a bully. Kim goes back to school to study therapy, and David wants to move back in.

A scene at the beach with two men and a woman. The woman is hugging one of the men, while the other man stands nearby, looking on.

Everyone hugs on the beach. THE END!

STRAY Thoughts

Wow, the being born on the same day and same hospital thing really came back. If Hannah had been born a day later, all of this could have been avoided.

I’m not sure which was worse, Hunter’s hair or his acting. Poor guy. Pretty eyes though!

  1. is it me or are these movies getting worse and stupider? they try so hard to make it a mystery on who the killer is but they’re so bad at it that it’s completely obvious and just ridiculous. Kate Watson is one of my favorite actresses on LMN and this movie was probably one of her worst. Too bad because she’s so hot! The acting is really getting much worse as well. And how many times Are we gonna have to see the wrestling for the gun and then it going off and shooting one of the two people Or a terrible fight scene which ends up on the ground and one of the two being choked and while being choked to the one on the bottom reaches for a rock and knocks the person out. Absolutely horrible. They should just leave a blank hour and let us write and act out our own stories. And they need to stop letting Vivica Fox make more movies because hers are really getting bad especially the ones were the bad person gets away at the end after the movies is over which makes it a complete waste of time to watch and all of the movies seem to have that one actor, and unfortunately his name is skates me right now but it’s that white dude that’s in practically every other movie of Vivica Fox. I can’t imagine anybody getting paid a lot of money to make these stupid movies.

  2. one more thing, I don’t know why the movie was called “to catch a cheater” when it seemed like the movie was more about Kate Watson and her daughter being killed then the cheating part of the movie

The platform made it possible to retrieve useful online information in a simple and organized way, which gave me clearer insight into certain situations.
