Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When devoted wife and mother Courtney’s whole family mysteriously disappears, she embarks on a desperate search, uncovering dark secrets and dangerous threats that force her to test the lengths she’ll go to find them.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

A couple embracing outdoors, with one holding a cup, surrounded by greenery and a modern grill in the background.

The movie starts with a happy family by the pool, and the music here is VERY Hallmark. Courtney is a business owner, has a hot, doting husband, STAN, and two cute daughters. They plan a beach trip after Court lands a big deal. Stan also mentions trying for a third.

Things work out pretty quickly, and Courtney lands a multimillion-dollar deal. She spends the night out partying, leaving Stan to take care of the girls and put them to bed. When she comes home, Stan and the girls are nowhere to be seen.

A woman with long, wavy hair is sitting on a couch and engaging in a serious conversation, looking intently at another person off-camera, in a modern, well-lit living space.

Courtney calls her yogi neighbor and best friend (and mine!) Paige. Paige helps Courtney look while wearing the most comfortable-looking outfit ever. Next, Courtney calls the police and talks to the school principal. The girls weren’t at school the day before, and Stan emailed to say they were sick. Stan also stood with a single mom named Bianca. (Courtney is jealous!)

A woman in a blue dress is standing in a kitchen, looking concerned while engaging in conversation.

Next, Barbara Stan’s mother rushed over to help. BARBARA PLEASE! (Mommie Dearest reference?) The sappy music continues as Courtney calls Stan and leaves a voicemail while hugging her kids’ stuffed animals.

Paige and Barbara don’t hit it off, and their first meeting is tense. Paige is sus, even if she is played by my fav, Gina Vitori! Bianca shows up to plan a search party. As they search, Bianca shares that Stan was very stressed out.

The police find Stan’s abandoned car in the woods. Courtney freaks out, thinking her family could be lost in the woods. (Even if they do have a lake house.) The police check the house, and it is empty. Media and reporters station outside Courtney’s house, and Courtney’s boss, Richard, helps her into her home. Barbara doesn’t approve and is super rude to the poor guy, who was just checking in. Photos get out, and rumors swirl about Courtney sleeping with her boss.

An online forum from WineMom403 starts to control the narrative framing Courtney as an unfit mother. Barbara doesn’t even understand what a website is, and she refuses to leave, opting to stay and “help.” They actually just argue about Stan and where he might be.

A woman with curly hair is looking intently at her smartphone, displaying a concerned expression in a dimly lit room.

Courtney gets a text in the middle of the night telling her to meet their demands or never see her kids again. Courtney also finds a note in the dry cleaning about Lunch in Nevada. She goes and is attacked, but manages to fight off her attacker.

A house engulfed in flames at night, reflecting in a nearby body of water, with smoke rising and palm trees in the foreground.

The near brush with death doesn’t deter her, and Courtney goes up to the cabin with Paige to investigate. As they search, the house goes up in flames, almost trapping Courtney inside. Paige claims there was a kitchen accident and convinces Courtney not to run back into the burning building for evidence to identify who her attacker might be.

Courtney reads the online comments, and she really shouldn’t be in the comments. She sets up a coffee date with Richard, but the gossip doesn’t stop. Even Barb has heard the online chatter. Barbara tells Courtney about a summer vacation she was helping Stan pay for. (Like she used her husband’s inheritance.) Barbara says Stan was unhappy being a stay-at-home dad and WAY oversteps on the motherly advice.

Let’s talk about the detective in this one. He is so blase about everything and shares way too much speculation with Courtney.

A woman with wavy, long hair wearing a green cardigan is engaged in a conversation outdoors. She has a friendly expression and appears to be listening intently. In the background, there are bicycles and blurred figures, suggesting a lively environment.

Bianca turns out to be the mommy blogger, and things got out of hand. Bianca had nothing to do with anything and is a red-headed herring. Then Barbara is attacked and ends up in a coma, and that only leaves one person… PAIGE!

Courtney finds her kids’ stuffed animals in Paige’s house and is knocked out with a frying pan. Paige tries to stage Courtney’s death with a gas leak and a well-placed note. Courtney manages to open a sliding glass door and gets fresh air, to LIVE!

A tense scene featuring a woman with an aggressive expression holding a gun, confronting another person in front of an airplane.

Paige has Courtney’s family drugged and on a private jet. Paige and Stan were having an affair. When Stan changed his mind about leaving Court, Paige killed Stan and kidnapped the girls.

There is a fight over the gun, and Courtney goes into SAVE MY DAUGHTER MODE. Police drag them apart and take Paige away. Courtney is reunited with her girls, who have no idea that their dad is dead.

A woman with curly hair wearing a floral dress sits on a couch, smiling while engaged in conversation with another person, partially visible in a light-colored top.

Six months later. Barbara has moved in and helps raise the girls, who are more interested in playing in the pool than remembering poor Stan. RIP!

STRAY Thought

Stan, as a name, is so funny and makes me think of The Golden Girls, naturally.

Paige’s wardrobe was 100%. I want her yoga-chic vibe.

  1. This ending was sort of sad. I hated that her husband was a jerk all along. If my family went missing, I am hitting up the entire neighborhood. All that time, she never went over Paige’s house. Wow. Everyone knows, kidnappers usually live very very close to their victims. So again, I am going to everyone’s house in the neighborhood knocking on doors to find out if they know or saw anything. I also think she didn’t truly throw down like a ride or die mama. If this was Tubi, it would’ve been no holds barred with her trying to get her kids. It was enjoyable while I prepared for the next day. 3 1/2 out of 5.
