Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A bride-to-be participates in a sleep study to earn money for her wedding, experiencing a vivid nightmare where she murders someone, only to later discover that the person she killed in her dream has mysteriously disappeared in real life.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

A woman lying on a bed looking concerned, with electrodes attached to her head.

Abigail Breslin plays Kelty Crawford, a financially stressed woman who participates in a sleep study for money, only to wake up experiencing vivid, violent nightmares of murdering a man in her sleep.

Kelty worries that her husband Evan is going to leave her, and if she murders him, he would have every right to! When Kelty tells the doctor about her nightmares, he says it is a side effect of the medication.

Television screen displaying breaking news about the Seattle police reopening the Alex Garcia investigation, featuring a female news anchor and a male guest.

Then, years later, there is a news report with a picture of the man from Kelty’s dreams. He was murdered, and the once cold case has been reopened. Kelty goes back to the sleep study office, and it is gone. Kelty asks her BFF Briannah to go to the man’s widow’s house and help her look into things. Briannah asks Kelty to stop looking into things, and Kelty promises, BUT has her fingers crossed behind her back. (Because she is childish and can’t lie like an adult!)

A couple lying in bed, gazing at each other affectionately, surrounded by blankets.

Kelty and Evan’s relationship is on the rocks because she keeps having nightmares, sleepwalking with a hammer, and grabbing knives in her sleep. Evan makes Kelty go to couples therapy to work through her PTSD from a car accident a few years ago.

Kelty finds a switchblade in the laundry and sets it aside for further investigation. Meanwhile, Evan considers locking Kelty up at night, and she agrees. Kelty goes to a lady doctor and learns that the sleep study was a fraud, and the sleep study doctor had a sister who died while sleepwalking. Starting a freak obsession.

A woman with curly hair, wearing a patterned sleeveless top and a chain necklace, is sitting at a bar, smiling while talking.

A detective looking into the murder calls Kelty with questions, and she knows she has to figure this out. The detective REALLY wants to know where Kelty was two years ago, but she can’t remember. Oh, and her friend Briannah died in the car crash and is a figment of Kelty’s imagination.

A man with a beard wearing a plaid shirt looks intently while talking to someone off-camera in a well-lit room.

Kelty tracks down the doctor, and he promises to help make things right. There isn’t just the nightmares; Kelty suffered severe brain trauma from the accident. She can’t remember a month of her life and needs the doctor to get her memories back. He gives her a dose of the sleep study medication, and Kelty injects herself.

In a sleepwalking state, Kelty’s memories come back to her. She was out partying with a friend and was raped in an alley. The rapist and the man from her neighborhood fight with a knife, and Kelty tried to save the man, but he died in her arms. The attacker is soooooo Evan.

A man with a beard and blue eyes, wearing a beige long-sleeved shirt, appears to be engaged in a serious conversation indoors.

Kelty doesn’t remember that quite yet, but she does remember her attacker calling her an “uppity Bitch.” Kelty suspects her cute co-worker, Parker, is her attacker after his cell phone goes off, and it is the same ringtone from her dreams.

Kelty means with the widow again and learns that Kelty contacted her two years ago and said her roommate killed her husband. Her roommate at the time was EVAN!!!

A man with dark hair is shown in a dimly lit room, wearing a green sweater, appearing concerned while looking off-camera. There are boxes in the background.

Evan has figured out that Kelty has regained her memory and gets violent. He knocks her out and locks her in the basement. Evan had been stalking Kelty for years before meeting her in passing on a vacation. He became obsessed and stalked her. Even hiring a private investigator. Kelty was pregnant from the attack, so Evan caused the car crash to send her into a miscarriage. He sets the basement on fire in a Romeo and Juliet situation.

A young woman in a hospital bed with a worried expression, wearing a light blue hospital gown, showing signs of distress and a bruise on her forehead.

Kelty wakes up in the hospital. The sleep study doctor saved her because he was stalking her, too! But he was just trying to thank her for saving her life, and she saved his, too! Horray!

Next to visit is Parker, who brings flowers! Kelty doesn’t date him, but she probably should.

If she had just won Little Miss Sunshine, all of this could have been avoided.
