Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A woman tries to protect her family and their future after townspeople learn the pastor’s son impregnated her daughter.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie starts with a home invasion and baby-napping.

A man and a woman stand in a modern, brightly lit living space. The woman, in a light blue top and black skirt, appears to be listening intently to the man, who is wearing a dark button-up shirt. A red drink is placed on the countertop between them. A patterned couch and large windows are visible in the background.

Cut to a few days earlier. A hot couple hang light fixtures to impress the pastor in town because Don wants to become Mayor. Their teen daughter, Carly, is sassy and annoyed that her parents are such try-hards. She is an actress in the school play, so let’s just say she is DRAMATIC. When she gets random shooting pains, it’s like the girl who cried period cramps. While Carly fights with her boyfriend, Marcus, in an alley, Pastor David intervenes and essentially calls her a hussy.

Pastor David and his plain Jane wife, Isabella, strictly parent their teenage son, Brayton. They don’t even let Victoria’s Secret mailers in the home because it could rot their son’s brain. They run their congregation the same way.

A woman sitting on a hospital bed, looking at another person. She is wearing a hospital gown and has a blood pressure cuff on her arm.

The period cramps turn out to be a full ass baby, at least Carly didn’t have it in the toilet. (I always feel bad for those babies.) Needless to say, the dinner is postponed. Carly is as shocked as her parents and asks them to wait before telling anyone.

Suzanne and Don decide, at Carly’s suggestion, to raise their granddaughter as their own daughter. Saying the adopted. It will help them save face and get Pastor David’s endorsement for Mayor (which is not how that works), and Carly gets to do her theatre show instead of being a teen mom!

A group of six people sitting around a dinner table, sharing a meal together. The setting is dimly lit, creating an intimate atmosphere, with a variety of dishes on the table and drinks in front of each person.

The dinner is back on now that the whole baby faux pas is taken care of. Pastor David pressures the family to go to church and forces them to pray before meals. Brayden and Carly go to the same school, but he doesn’t know the baby is hers, but he does have a crush on her. Pastor David does NOT approve. Suzanne and Isabella make friends though.

Marcus breaks into the house and goes into baby Luna’s room. He has put the pieces together since they broke up nine months ago. Then he blackmails her into dating him again or he will tell everyone she is a teen mom ho! Marcus’s mother, Hilary, gets word of the baby and demands a DNA test.

Back to that home invasion and kidnapping. Baby Luna is snatched from her crib in the middle of the night. They come clean to detectives and to Pastor David about Luna being Carly’s daughter. Pastor David tells them that he will pray for the baby to be found, but suggests Carly is going to hell.

A young man with dark, wavy hair and wearing a varsity jacket is smiling and speaking to someone off-camera in a dimly lit room.

Carly goes to Marcus’ house and demands that he give the baby back. Marcus’ mom tells Carly that they will file for full custody of Luna after the baby is found because Carly is an unfit mother.

A man and a woman stand in front of a garage door that has graffiti reading 'SOLD' in bold red letters.

During a prayer circle, the police pull up and arrest Carly for kidnapping her own baby, but they have nothing on her. The congregation also turns on the family, and Suzanne, Don, and Carly are asked to skip Sunday Service. Then someone vandalizes their house!

With all the suspicion surrounding her, Carly sneaks out to meet Marcus at the park in the middle of the night. Someone stuns him with a taser. Carly finds him unresponsive and calls 911. Marcus ends up in a coma.

Pastor David comes home late, and his wife, Isabella, is curious why he is so late. Pastor David says he doesn’t have to answer to his wife. He is obviously the worst.

Carly admits to her parents that Brayton is the baby daddy, not Marcus. The couple was keeping their relationship from Pator David because he would not approve and certainly would freak over a teen pregnancy involving his son.

A woman with shoulder-length blonde hair is visibly upset, standing in a dimly lit room while expressing strong emotions.

The tables turn, and Isabella invites Carly and her parents over for dinner. Pastor David and Braydon are nowhere to be found, but Isabella is insistent that they stay for dinner anyway. Isabella grabs a knife and forces them to stay for dinner. She tells them that she has to keep them at the house and stabs Don when he tries to grab the weapon.

A young man with a serious expression stands in a dimly lit outdoor setting near a boat.

Carly and her mother rush to the docks to find Luna. Why they are on a boat, I have no idea. Pastor David and Braydon aren’t worried about getting caught by the police because they are upstanding citizens and on a righteous path. Braydon stands up to his dad and punches him in the face. Carly is reunited with her daughter.

A woman in a blue dress speaks at a podium while a man in a suit listens intently. The setting features greenery and balloons in the background, indicating a public event.

Suzanne gets elected as Mayor, and her husband must be pissed! What was she a write-in?!?!

STRAY Thought

Hmmmm, I’m all for baby mama drama, but this pastor family was nuts.

Did Marcus get out of his coma?!?!
