Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When Tina’s teenage daughter Ellie doesn’t return home from a sleepover with her closest friends, she goes on a frantic hunt to find her before it’s too late. In the process, she unravels dark secrets and a tryst among BFFs…

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Ellie is a Maine high school senior on her way to college. Her mom, Tina, was knocked up by her high school boyfriend and doesn’t want the same for her daughter. Mom is overprotective and not happy about her daughter going to a sleepover at Jess’s house, but she is really secretly meeting up with a boy named Caleb.

Jess has a bad reputation. Her mom, Rachel, is a cool mom who loves belly button piercings and sushi. Kendall, Lily, Jess, and Ellie go out to the party together and do a secret BFF handshake. Before they even go into the party, Lily tells Ellie that Caleb is cheating on her. Jess gets made fun of for her nudes leaking, and Kendall? Who knows what she is doing? Ellie runs off after fighting with Caleb and is kidnapped.

The next morning, Tina calls Paul to see if Ellie is okay after Ellie didn’t show up for a tennis lesson. Jess says she hasn’t seen Ellie since she left the party with Caleb. Tina is like, Party!?!? Teenagers?!?!? Drinking?!?!? Tina talks with Caleb’s mom, and Caleb is missing too. They decide to report the teens missing to the police.

The police show the parents a video from the doorbell camera. It shows Caleb and Ellie fighting. When the teenagers are questioned, they make a BFF pact to stick to the same story, so that is weird!

Missing posters go up all over town, and search parties sweep the woods. The stress gets to Jessica, and she cries about it in her all-pink room, wearing pink. Her cool mom, Rachel, tries to “get the 411 on the DL, my homie.” Jessica doesn’t break her BFF pact. Meanwhile, Tina is sweeping tall grass, and someone hits her in the back, knocking her unconscious.

Ellie wakes up in the woods, tied up, cuts herself free, and runs in a circle before tripping on her two feet and falling.

Lily is the first to crack and wants to come clean about what they know. Rachel is covering up for her daughter for something and burns Elli’s overnight bag in the backyard. She then takes care of Lily in a cave. Lily doesn’t make it out alive!

Jessica blames Ellie for leaking some racy photos of her to the whole school, which is honestly fair. They dump vodka on Ellie and pin the whole thing on Caleb, only the student body knows Jessica is up to no good.

Ellie manages to hobble her way to a junkyard and passes out in a car after eating some crumbs from the car floor. Or she should drive a car off the lot, or, you know… look for the owner of the junk shop? After taking a nap, Ellie wakes up and lays on the horn for help. It doesn’t work.

Tina tries to talk with Rachel, and Rachel pulls a gun on her for trespassing. Rachel insists that her daughter is innocent and Caleb is to blame for Ellie’s disappearance.

Tina and Paul access Ellie’s email and cross-reference it against the yearbook. Kendall is their culprit. She leaked Jessica’s photos via Ellie’s email to get revenge for Kendall’s failed bid for prom queen. Tina goes to Jessica and exposes Kendall’s betrayal.

Jessica comes clean to her mother, and Rachel says she has handled it. Rachel found Ellie in the woods using a drone and pushed her off a ledge.

Rachel and Tina end up SCREAMING at each other in the exact same tone. Rachel is waving a knife around, and they shout so loudly that Ellie finds them, and she is saved! Yay!

Ellie goes to college, and you know, good for her, she did nothing wrong.
