Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Lia Collins, a driven but financially struggling senior at a prestigious college who’s forced into survival mode when her scholarship is suddenly revoked, leans into a business idea inspired by her nanny job for a wealthy, recently separated father, Ethan. She launches a high-end childcare and “companionship” service for wealthy single parents, matching young women with families who need help not just with kids, but with emotional support and presence. As the company scales, things blur morally and legally, turning the business into something much darker.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

A woman with long hair and a serene expression looks at a mobile app displaying a bedtime log with dates and times, set against a dimly lit background.

Leah is a college student who is struggling to keep up with classes, volunteering, and babysitting Ethan’s kids. Her friends are overwhelmed too and don’t want to crash out.

While babysitting and logging the kids’ bedtimes. Leah hears a noise in the house. Are the kids, Harry and Ellen, playing a prank? No, it is HOT AF DAD, Ethan. His wife travels a lot for work, and he is going through a trial separation. Meaning Leah is about to get more hours!

A romantic scene between a couple, with the woman looking down at her partner as he adjusts his tie, both dressed elegantly in a soft-lit indoor setting.

The registrar’s office emails that Leah’s scholarship money is being revoked because she didn’t fill out paperwork fast enough, and she’ll have to pay 10s of thousands of dollars. Ethan pours her some whiskey and gives her more money for making him feel less lonely. That sparks an idea for a childcare app, except for lonely adults. Ethan agrees to be an angel investor.

Leah’s friends join the app, and they are going to charge a premium, but it is not a call girl service; it is “family care”. Building a start-up montage! Leah does interviews in pantsuits, writes in a notebook, and then cash money piles up.

The clientele is horny exclusively single fathers with boundary issues. Including Ethan, who gives Leah a watch and then puts this babysitter down for bedtime. Sexy bedtime.

A group of young women sitting in a room decorated with plants and warm lighting, with one woman standing and holding a smartphone while addressing the others.

Some of the girls find a way to scale up their earnings by charging for sex. Leah calls a meeting, and they say that they were hired to provide companionship. Ever heard of “Sexual freedom”? Leah tries to shut it down, but gets called out since she is hooking up with Ethan. Then she sees how much her cut is, and suddenly being a college-aged pimp seems… not that bad!

Ethan helps Lean cook the books and shows her the insane profit margins.

A woman stands on a path in a dense forest while nearby, a figure partially covered in leaves lies on the ground.

Tessa suddenly goes missing, and Leah calls her parents, who don’t seem surprised that she missed their family reunion. No one is concerned, but Tessa complained about her companion, Greg, saying he made her feel uncomfortable. Leah stops by Greg’s house, and he acts like he doesn’t even remember her. Leah files a missing persons report. They don’t have to do much searching too hard because a jogger finds Tessa’s body in a pile of leaves, dead as a doornail!

Leah tells Ethan about the murder, and he doesn’t think Greg could do a thing like that. He is also back with his wife and has never been separated. Leah is done with the business and Ethan, but he warns her that if she opens Pandora’s box, she will go down with the ship.

A concerned woman staring at her phone, illuminated by the screen light, with a blurred background of various babysitter contact information on a digital interface.

It’s time for the presentations, and Leah learns that Ethan’s shared drive is still connected to her phone. Ethan was running a babysitter escort ring and using Leah’s company as the shell company. Dark! Ethan realizes and cuts her access before trying to cut her.

Ethan’s wife, Annabelle, grabs Leah and takes her to the woods to tell her what is really going on. She has been documenting her husband’s bad deeds to build up a divorce case. Leah takes a flash drive to her big presentation.

At the presentation, Leah blows the roof off everything. She shows the videos on the flash drive, and Ethan gets mad and chases Leah out of the building. He strangles her, but Leah saves herself by stabbing him with a ballpoint pen.

Close-up of a young woman with long hair and blue eyes, looking concerned while sitting in a dimly lit café.

Leah takes a leave of absence, moves out of the dorms, and works at a coffee shop. Annabelle stops by and says Harry and Ellen ask about her all the time.

STRAY Thought

Leah had really fun pens! I didn’t know they would become weapons.
