Synopsis (via Lifetime)
A woman who seemingly has it all stands to lose everything to her devious half-sister.
Thoughts
The movie begins with Keisha waking up in a hospital after pushing someone down the stairs? Her mother is also dead. It seems like Keisha pushed her mother down the stairs. The timeline is a little wonky because we flash back to 16 years earlier. Little Keisha and her mother, Daisy. Daisy tells her daughter that she doesn’t have a father and then has her read the bible.
Back in present day, as Keisha looks through her mother’s things she finds the bible with a name inside. After some light online stalking, she writes a letter to Elijah posing as her mother.
Gabrielle finds her father reading the letter and is shocked that he cheated on her mother, who has since passed away. Gabi reaches out to her BFF, Kandi Burgis. I mean Reagan. Who encourages Gabrielle to set up a meeting with Keisha. Reagan even visits Keisha at the salon to convince her to come and meet the family.
At the first meeting, Gabrielle and Kesha have an awkward encounter. They are new sisters. Due to the papers, Regan helped Gabi get for a paternity test. Gabi wants to make sure that Keisha is related, but her father won’t hear of it.
Gabi offers Keisha a place to say in her extravagant mansion. Kesha is quick to enjoy the bubble bath and then do some serious snooping. She steals Bella’s birth certificate. Kesha is jealous of the perfect family, mansion, and, more importantly, the money. Gabi thinks she is making a breakthrough with her new sister when Keisha offers some marking ideas for her business. The paternity test comes back and confirms that Kesha is a part of the family. Kesha manipulated the situation. She is a master manipulator, actually. She is getting money from her new father and earning the trust of little Bella.
Keisha gets a fancy new job at Gabrielle’s firm, a new car, and a rent-free room and board.
At the firm, Keisha is disappointed with her office space and that she is not included in the big meeting even though they used Keisha’s ideas. Her plans for sabotage are back on. Keisha’s first target is Gabrielle’s hunky and perpetually alone husband, Maurice. Then she sets her sights on Gabrielle’s job. Keisha wins over a hunky man named Justice and takes over his account. Stealing it from Gabi.
Then at a red carpet event, Keisha starts a rumor that Justice and Gabrielle were hooking up and Bella is really Justice’s daughter. Maurice and Justice get into a dramatic brawl after Da Brat spills the secret to reporters. It is a lot. Keisha’s plan doesn’t go as planned. Maurice doesn’t even bat an eye at her advances after “breaking up” the couple.
Keisha heads home and tells Bella that she can call her “mommy.” Then Regan, Gabi’s BFF, storms into the house accuse Keisha of manipulating Gabi and her family. The women argue on the starts, and Regan goes flying down the stairs accidentally. Keisha takes Bella and rushes out of the house. She calls 911 because Regan is pregnant, and she isn’t heartless.
Keisha is arrested for kidnapping, and the movie is suddenly ending. Gabi and Maurice make up, and Regan (and her baby) survive the fall.
Gabi and her father visit Keisha in jail and offer her forgiveness for all the terrible things she did. Keisha is surprised to learn that she really is a part of the family and was manipulating for nothing. They agree to heal together as a family. Then they pray. The end!
