Synopsis (via Lifetime)
When a university student refuses to sleep with her professor in exchange for good grades, she’s in danger of being killed to keep her quiet, and her mother must drop everything to save her. Jocelyn Saenz, Grace Patterson, Johanna Liauw star (2021)
Thoughts
A college co-ed frantically runs through a party, attempting to dial for help. A man in a hoodie is chasing her. They end up on the roof, and he pushes her off—Tale as old as Lifetime.
Cut to a beautiful house to a girl with a limp from a sports injury named Jenny. Jenny has BEAUTIFUL PARENTS. (Who are too young and hot to have a college-age daughter) She has been home recovering and lost her college scholarship. Jenny is nervous about going to campus, but her hot parents talk her down.
Kristen’s mother does a campus tour with Jenny, and they talk about the freshman fifteen. (Good point here, Kristen tells her daughter that she can eat more calories and be fine with training.) Jenny’s room is the room that belonged to the girl who fell off the building. Her bitchy roommate, Beth, tells her about Elaine and the “suicide.” Jenny cries and calls her mommy. Kristen wants to pick Jenny up, but Jenny decides to stay.
A guy named Dane stalks Beth and is obsessed with her. He has a key to their room. An intruder breaks into their room, and they suspect Dane. He denies doing anything and gives back the key. Beth and Jenny tell the RA, Kyle, and file a report.
Jenny starts making waves on campus and impresses her professor, Dr. Davrow. She doesn’t impress Professor Harrington, and the next day Jenny is surprised to learn he died of a heart attack. (Really, he was poisoned.)
Beth dresses up for classes in cocktail dresses and full hair in makeup. It is to earn better grades from Dr. Davrow, who tells Jenny she should do the same. Jenny is horrified and tells her mommy. Kristen is pissed and tells her daughter to report him or let Jenny go back to campus. Jenny runs off on her bum leg.
Jenny starts to dress up for class and eating salads. (So she can get her grades up and get back her scholarship.) She sees her grades suddenly improve from male teachers. She is even invited to a fancy party at Dr. Davrow’s home. While he pours her a drink, he explains how the world has gone downhill and insists that dressing up is a sign of respect. She tells him he is inappropriate. Then he forces her to kiss him, and Jenny runs away. Beth promises that he never sexually assaulted her and wants to tell the code of conduct board, but then gets cold feet.
Dr. Davrow blatantly doesn’t grade on the merit of the work because he has tenure. Jenny is left with no one to turn to, except her mother. He tells Jenny that she will sleep with him to get better grades and is sleeping with Beth, the female professor, and probably Elaine when she was alive.
Kristen talks with Dr. Davrow, but he charms her too. Jenny screams at her mother and cries into her pillow. Sarah, another roommate, offers to listen to Jenny. They talk on a Ferris wheel, because why not! Sarah admits that Dr. Davrow took advantage of her too and then failed her. Elaine was also in the same boat, and Sarah thinks Dr. Davrow killed Elaine.
On their way to report Dr. Davrow, the girls are both pushed off a bridge. Sarah falls and is placed in the hospital, but Dane, of all people, saves Jenny. Jenny calls her mom and decides to lie to the police and NOT tell them about Dr. Davrow. Dane offers Jenny a place to stay if she feels unsafe. She declines and takes a sexy shower instead.
Dr. Davrow is unphased by the media circus, but when his female colleague recognizes his hoodie, he kills her.
While Jenny is blow-drying her hair and getting ready for her mother to pick her up from campus, Kyle startles her in the bathroom. They laugh it off until Jenny realizes that she dropped her phone and broke it. It is a co-ed bathroom, and Kyle strips down to take a shower. He has an injury on his shoulder. He chases after Jenny while awkwardly trying to put his shirt on. KEEP IT OFF, KYLE.
He is the intruder and was trying to get back some sexy pictures he took with Elaine. Jenny and Beth help him look for the photos, and they find pictures of Beth with Dr. Davrow. Beth is in love with him and killed Elaine for exposing the whole affair.
Beth pulls a gun on Kyle and Jenny. Kyle tries to grab the gun, and it goes off, giving them a moment to make a run to the police station. Jenny puts her bum leg to use and runs with the photos. She calls her mommy on the way too! Beth catches up to them and shoots Kyle. Jenny punches Beth out just as Kristen arrives and calls 911.
It isn’t over; Dr. Davrow shows up and is quickly shot by Kristen, who is more ready for this movie to be over with than I am. The police show up and cart Kyle away on a stretcher while Jenny and Kristen hug.
Flash to Jenny making it onto the track team and earning back her scholarship. Lots of screeching happens. Sarah ends up being fine, and Jenny welcomes a new roommate named, Lisa. The end!
