Waitress and animal lover, Molly Bishop is desperate for a holiday miracle. Broke and needing major car repairs. (2021)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Molly works at a cafe with her Cool Lesbian friend, Cam. (Who is also an aspiring singer.) The cafe will be sold after the holidays leaving them both unemployed. Molly is randomly obsessed with animals (It never comes back) and wants to sell dog treats at the store to make more money because she is broke.
A handsome regular customer, Aiden, visits the cafe, and Molly has his order memorized. He overhears her talking to Cam about her money troubles, and Aiden leaves his card and a wad of cash. Molly doesn’t accept handouts and chases him down to return the money. Aiden tells her that he “fixes people” and she should keep the funds to repair her car.
Molly interviews for a job outside of the food/beverage industry because she doesn’t want to work for her dad, who owns a bar. Aidan works for the same company and sets up an after interview over drinks. The only thing interesting that happens at the dinner is the weird-looking green martini’s. Then Cam sings a song about “Her Choice,” which isn’t very Christmasy.
Afterward, everyone gets into a snowball fight. Molly slips, and Aiden falls on top of her. Twee music plays, and he helps her up and gives her his scarf. Molly thanks him for everything.
Molly’s dad shows up and talks to her about working for his company. He wears a pinky ring, so he is obviously a villain. Molly wants to do things on her own and not reap the benefits of NEPOTISM! (Come on, Molly, take the job!)
Aiden introduces Molly to his sister and nephew, who is hearing impaired. They speak in sign language, which is cool to depict in a Christmas Movie, not sure if I have seen that before. (Which is a shame.) Molly learns that Aiden and his sister lost their parents to a car crash when they were young. Aiden is a workaholic who had to take care of his siblings.
Molly’s dad crashes a date with Aiden and gives her an official job offer. She reiterates that she isn’t interested. Molly is frustrated that her dad doesn’t understand her.
Then Molly gets a job offer from Aiden’s company. She celebrates with Aiden, and they kiss. This movie should be called CHRISTMAS JOB INTERVIEW!
Mike, her new potential boss, texts Aiden, and Molly sees his phone. She feels like Aiden put in a good word, and she didn’t get the job on her own merit. (That is how jobs work, a personal recommendation is called a referral!) They argue, but who cares.
Molly finds out that she got the job on her own merits and learns it is okay to accept help sometimes. She forgives Aiden. Then they kiss under the mistletoe, so that is where the title comes into play. The end! Yikes!
