Synopsis (via Hallmark)

It’s almost Christmas when busy realtor Abigail agrees to help her sister with the “simple flip” of a recently inherited home. Unfortunately, co-beneficiary Bo has other plans in mind. Starring Ashley Newbrough and Marcus Rosner.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Abigail works for a design firm and has a treadmill desk! She is preparing for a big pitch with DevaCore. Her sister calls because a house for sale has just hit the market because an old man died. (Oh, it is Claire’s husband, John’s grandfather. whoops!) Claire wants her sister to flip the property. Speaking of old man, their old man is having a hard time since losing his wife. The pitch goes well, and they want Abigail to take on the project, but she must work the Christmas holiday. Abigail wants to focus on work instead of dealing with the first Christmas without her mom.

Walking treadmill but no standing desk?

Marcus Rosner plays Bo, and he continues to be a hunk. In this movie, he is a hunk on a ladder! Abigail runs into him on her way into town to help her sister and has flirty/annoying banter with him. Then she gets to her sister’s house and sees her father distorting himself and avoiding the family.

Hunk on a ladder!

At the house, Claire admits that John didn’t fully inherit the house. Bo also inherited half of the house and wants to turn it into a Bed and Breakfast. Claire wants Abigail to help flip the house and convince Bo to sell and not keep it for a B&B. They bicker out front of the house. Claire and John ask them to figure it out, and they both reluctantly agree.

As they tour the house, Abigail puts a post up on everything that needs to go and sends voice notes to her assistant, Jessica. Bo wants to keep most things because they have meaning and antiques. Abigail is on a tight schedule and only plans on being in town for a few days. She tries to rush Bo along, but he is working at a different pace. He also wants to make the Bed and Breakfast Christmas?!??!?! Why!?!?!?

We love a working woman, especially with text bubbles!

Demolition begins! They paint one another and get into an old-fashioned paint fight all throughout the house. (Very old school Hallmark.) After doing very little actual painting, they take a lunch break! Claire is concerned that her sister isn’t working fast enough; she reminds “Aunt Abby” that her family is living in a house that is bursting at the seams, and they really need the money from the flip.

Paint fight?!? What is this 2015?!?!

Bo takes Abigail to a Christmas Tree Farm, and they discuss the merits of a fake tree vs. a real one. There is a tree where you can put ornaments with the names of loved ones you’ve lost, which is a nice tradition. While looking at trees, they get into a sexy/playful snowball fight. Then, they have a heart-to-heart about Abigail’s first Christmas without her mother. He makes a tree/root analogy to make her feel better? (I’d just take a makeout session!) The guy is down the tree and is very close. Before leaving, Abagail puts an ornament on the tree in memory of her mother. (She just writes “Mom”; I would have probably written my mother’s name or at least “Mommie Dearest”. Right?)

DevaCore wants to buy the empty land near the Christmas Tree Farm and “gentrify the municipality.” Abigail regrets telling her assistant about the land and tries to think of a way out of making a lot of money for the integrity of the town. (Make that money, gurl!!!)

Bo does some woodworking, and it’s hot. He shared his feelings about being abandoned by his dad as a child and his first wife when he was younger. That is less hot. Frank, the old guy who died, helped turn things around for Bo and co-signed a loan for Bo’s woodworking business. Then, he quotes Dr. Susse.

Abigail talks to her dad, FINALLY! He tells his daughter that he regrets how much he was invested in his work. Sometimes, things happen that are out of your control, and managing them can be challenging. They cry, and he tells Abigail not to bulldoze through life. She tells her sister about the gentrification, and they talk with the mayor.

Bo works on the house, and Abigail is surprised that he went with her design plans. He asks her out on a date/business dinner in the bed of his truck on the land that is for sale. They cuddle in a makeshift bed and look at the stars. She thanks him for showing him what his town has to offer. (His sexy ass!) and I guess her family. They almost kiss but are interrupted by a call from DevaCore. The land sale went through, and the mayor caved at an extra 10% over asking. Abigail comes clean with Bo, and he is upset with her for ruining the town!

Abigail apologizes to Bo and promises to try and fix things. She finds a clause in the contract that prevents the land from being sold because it is protected wildlife.

Bo and Abigail decide to turn the home into a Bed and Breakfast and run it together. Her sister and brother-in-law will be silent partners. Their dad is excited to have his daughters living in the same town. He is very proud.

At their new house, Bo and Abigail sit on the front porch of their new home and sit on wooden rocking chairs that Bo made for someone special in his life; that someone is now her! Awww!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

Can we talk about Cher Christmas being in the Hallmark Promos??!!? WHAT?!?!?

This movie had the classic Hallmark movie beats and could slot into any season previously.
