Synopsis (via Hallmark)

Lori Jo’s love for Christmas takes her on a road trip to Yuletide Springs with her roommate Tori, where Christmas is celebrated year-round, to participate in a longstanding town tradition to honor her late grandmother. Along the way, the friends meet Carl and Jason, and the foursome make stops during their journey to enjoy more small-town Christmas attractions. But when a series of events puts a damper on their plans, a little Christmas magic may put this trip back on the right path. Starring Katherine Barrell, Cindy Busby, Corey Sevier and Matt Wells.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Lori Jo, LJ for short, is the office Christmas nut. She proudly wears her reindeer antlers and sings holiday songs at her desk. When she is tasked with an urgent assessment but is unwilling to change her holiday plans, she is almost fired by her sassy gay boss, Randy. (I’m assuming he gay!) Instead, LJ quits via post it. (Which is iconic!)

With no job or family in town, LJ encourages her roommate/now former co-worker, Tori, to join her for a cross-country trip to Yuilde Time Springs. LJ wants to hang an ornament in memory of her grandmother, who also loved Christmas. The trip will literally take three days of driving, which sounds insane to me. LJ has it all mapped out; nothing could possibly go wrong. Boom! Car trouble!

A truck driver with “Jingle Bells” as his horn honk pulls up and is BIG into Christmas, too. He is also hot AF. His name is Zack, and he checks out their car; the belt is fried, and he offers to get one. LG and Zack are vibing so much they forget Tori is even there, haha! (RUDE!)

While the friends wait for Zack to return, Santa (

with a fresh fade) pulls up in a red truck to repair the belt. He happens to just have everything he needs to fix it. He asks them to pay it forward, and then he is off! Zack returns too late and is confused about the whole Santa repairman thing, but he invites them to his town’s Christmas festival.

In the town’s community center, they are surprised to see Santa! He does a mind-reading trick that is really impressive to kids.

LJ and Zack walk around the town Christmas market and debate marshmallow’s place in hot chocolate. Meanwhile, Tori is actively trying to avoid Christmas romance and rejects a guy who is flirting with her while Santa watches from afar. Before he leaves, Santa gives them all Christmas magic items. (A gift certificate, a fortune cookie, and single stamp)

The road trip continues, and they run into Santa, who has a flat tire. They offer to give him a ride. He is a backseat driver and tells them where to go, like a typical man! Then, they end up in another small town Christmas place. They help him load gifts for the children at church. Then they get a coffee, and Santa randomly tells Tori to send her neice a postcard.

At the post office, that dang handsome guy from the Christmas market runs into Tori. His name is Jason, and his aunt is the church pastor. Tori shows him to the church and laughs at how serendipitous it all is. (Or SANTAdipitous!) LJ and Zack also run into one another in the town.

The girls and their guys are sent deep into the woods in the dark of night. Zack opens his fortune cookie, and they get a code for an electrical box that lights up the woods with Christmas lights. They are all thrilled; Tori says it is all an illusion. LJ and Zack think it might be some serious Christmas magic. Trying not to overthink things, they have an impromptu photo session with all the beautiful lights.

They all walk back on a dark street and get a ride to town in a one-horse open sleigh. LJ invites Zack to come with them to Yultide Springs. Zack declines because he has a business to run. Tori also asks Jason to go, but he doesn’t want to leave his aunt so suddenly. They stay the night with the men and think it is all meant to be! Everything happens for a reason.

The road trip continues, and Jason tags along, playing the third wheel. They finally make it to the town; honestly, it is just like all those other Christmasy towns they were in. LJ is impressed and acts as the tour guide for her travel companions. She explodes excitedly when LJ meets the mayor and becomes so overwhelmed with emotions while hanging her grandmother’s ornament that she falls off the ladder and smashes it. (Or it is the boots she is wearing!) LJ cries and runs off!

Santa shows up to make everything better; he brings hunky Zack with him. LJ and Zack reunite, and Santa disappears. They find Santa’s ID, and his name is Chris Bronstad; I guess he wasn’t Santa after all! (But we know he is.)

At a local store, LJ finds the Christmas ornament, uses her gift certificate to buy it, and puts it on the tree. Then she kisses Zack. The end!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts
