Anita Jackson is thrilled when she and husband Jack move to an exclusive neighborhood with their adopted daughter Jilly. When she is invited to join the development’s “Wives Club,” her calendar is suddenly filled with parties, play dates and classy lunches. But strange things keep happening and the wives are more interested in befriending Jilly than her. When she discovers a former member of the Club died suspiciously, she is certain those Wives killed her. Starring Erin Boyes, Matt Hamilton, and Amelia Harrison (2024).
Recap/Wine Thoughts!
In a neighborhood literally called Predator Ridge, a nerdy group of suburban couples hang out at a lavish party. Patrice is a little too slutty for everyone’s taste and is quick to die from an off-camera “accident.”
Four years later, Anita and her husband, Jack, move to the neighborhood and are thrilled about the upgrade. They have a pre-teen daughter named Gilley, who may be the birth daughter of one of the mean moms from Predator Ridge. Marti is the landlord, Joy has the party house, and Sarah is most likely the birth mom with a daughter Gilley’s age, Amy.
Jack fits in with the locals, but Anita is an outsider. At a party, she gets locked and forgotten in the garage. (Giving her time to look at the broken ladder that Patrice fell off of.) Once out, Anita checks out a portrait on the wall and inquires about Patrice. Marti is quick to change the subject. Sarah and Joy are quick to invite Anita to the neighborhood wives club. (Anita accepts! With TWC pins! Loyalty with no limits! )
Anita makes friends with Bonnie, the wife of Jack’s boss. Bonnie drinks martinis at lunch and has ALL THE TEA. She tells Anita about Patrice’s death and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the “accidental” death.
Ethan, Marti’s husband, is a little too friendly with Anita, making everyone suspicious. Even Anita’s husband is jealous. Sarah promises Marti that she will “take care” of Ethan. These rumors are NOT quashed when Ethan and Marti announce they are pregnant. Ethan continues to flirt with Anita while gardening. (Sarah almost runs Anita over on the golf course!!!!)
It doesn’t take long before Anita starts spiraling, and Jack gaslights her into thinking she is crazy! Anita believes the wife’s club members are covering up a murder and an adoption scandal, but has to keep things to herself.
When Ethan goes missing, Marti calls the police and blames Sarah and Joy for taking care of him, just like they took care of Patrice. Anita starts to think that the wives orchestrated the whole thing to get Gilly/Emily back into the neighborhood so she can be with her sister, Sarah’s daughter Amy.(It is really convoluted.)
Anita finds Patrice’s journal and broken glass in the garden. It is time to move, and Anita packs her bags. Jack stops Anita from leaving because he confronted Ethan before he went missing, and it would look suspicious if they left town suddenly. Then, the police find Ethan’s body. Marti tells Anita to be careful.
I have no idea what is happening, but Keith killed Patrice. (Who is Keith? Keith is dead!)
Anita is locked in a room again and can’t find her daughter. She busts out of the room and is confronted by Marti with a gun. After sending Anita down the stairs, Marti tells Anita that Gilly is HER daughter. Then Ethan shows up, and he is not dead. Anita knocks the gun from his hand and makes a run for it. She doesn’t get far because Ethan and Marti tie her up and explain how they are going to take Gilly away.
Ethan and Marti struggle over the gun, and it goes off. Then Jack jumps in the brawl, and Marti shoots Ethan. They apologize to one another while they are both shot. Then they both die
The wives club is desoved and turned into the Wellness Collective. Good for them!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
Alana Hawley Purvis is one of my favorite supporting characters on Lifetime; she is always reliable in delivering Lifetime-style performances.

Couples Murder Retreat (2024 Lifetime Movie) Recap: A Lifetime Legend Jessica Morris Stars in a plodding Tale of Betrayal and Suspense
Yeah…10min in realized I should’ve listened to you😅. But you know train wreck and all. This Wives Club of 3/4 people seemed lame from the start. You get stuck in a garage with your phone, quick what do you do? Use it as a flashlight and then panic.😑
I also got a Stepford Wives vibe straight away, especially from Anita’s husband and his supposed insecurity and inability to have a grown up convo. Overall this entire story was convoluted. A bad Lifetime movie and not a fun bad either.
The actress who plays Anita isn’t a very good actor in this!!! I wanted to punch her LOL!!!!
First of all, if we didnt know better we would’ve thought jack was behind everything. The way he treated his wife as if she was a mental patient who didnt know what she was talking about. Surprised he didnt have her committed. Second of all, what the hell was the point of having the other women (Joy and Sarah. I think that’s their names?) Were they in on the whole adoption thing with marti or were they only worried Ethan was having an affair? And did Sarah actually kill her own hubby? And what bout Patrice? Was she killed due to an affair too? It seems like Sarah, Joy etc didnt need to be in this movie at all. Ive never had so many questions about an lmn. And that says a lot since most dont make a lot of sense.
