Synopsis (via Netflix)

In pursuit of a fairytale romance with the man of her dreams, Layla must race through New York City to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

We start off in Chicago at O’Hare airport. Christina Milian sashays through the airport, as you imagine she would. Pentatonix (apparently, they are big in Christmas music!)plays randomly on the screens in the airport. Christina Milian’s flight gets canceled due to the weather. She is traveling for work and gets to chill in the corporate lounge.

Christina Milian makes a friend named Teddy at the buffet when they go for the same mini quiche. The interaction is brief. Christina Milian spends most of her time in the lounge with a guy named James. They hit it off even more than Teddy and bond over Pentatonix. James makes a proposal, if they are both single this time next year they should let fate bring them together and meet at a Pentatonix Christmas show.

A year later, Christina Milian finds her boyfriend cheating with the maid. Her best friend, Roxy, hypes Christina Milian and then encourages her to find Airport James. They look online for Pentatonix tickets and see a picture of Airport James at the box office. The only problem is the show is sold out.

Teddy works for a concierge service, and he has been tasked with helping Christina Milian find Pentatonix tickets, or he will lose his job. Christina Milian is super intense about getting the tickets, and it puts Teddy off. She vows not to leave his side until the tickets are procured.

Pentatonix has a scene where they play pop diva versions of themselves. It’s kind of funny, but they should probably stick to singing.

Christina Milian meets with a sketchy scalper at a bar and hands over $500 in cash and a necklace off her neck for the tickets. The tickets are from last year, and the scalper runs off before Christina Milian can pepper spray him. (She pepper sprays Teddy by accident.)

Teddy uses his misadventures to his advantage and tags Pentatonix on his social media while he overshares his adventures with Christina Milian on his feed and in their DMs.

They find another lead for tickets and meet an eccentric couple with questionable accents. I’m \unsure what is happening in this scene, but they are probably vampires.

Circumstances bring Christina Milian and Teddy to a mall, waiting in line for an in-demand sugar plum purse. A sales girl flirts with Teddy, and Christina Milian tells Teddy to go for it. Pentatonix follows the whole story online and starts shipping for Christina Milian and Teddy.

Christina Milian and Teddy take a bike-drawn carriage across town, and we learn that Teddy is a fan of Pentatonix. They watch music videos together while it snows.

It’s time for Christina Milian to make an outfit change, so she brings Teddy home to meet Roxy, and we learn Teddy was a Chef at Chicago’s three-Michelin star restaurant, Alinea. He gave it all up to be a concierge.

Teddy’s cousin, Jordy, is a drag queen and recruits them to compete in the Snow Ball; the grand prize is two Pentatonix tickets. There is a long, annoying training montage, and afterward, Christina Milian remembers Teddy from the airport lounge.

Slow-motion cooking montage.

It is the night of the Snow Ball, and Christina Milian and Teddy don’t really match up to the drag queens and twinks. Jordy pushes them out on stage and tells them to sass and sparkle. They perform a version of “Santa Baby,” and I’m honestly not sure if Christina Milian is singing here or not. Then they makeout on-stage. The passion isn’t enough, and the drag queens win, which is appropriate.

Pentatonix is back, and they have a comp ticket to give out. They decide to give Christina Milian the ticket since she has been entertaining them the whole movie.

Christina Milian leaves to get ready for the concert, and she wonders if Airport James is the guy for her. Maybe it is Teddy? Roxy tells Christina Milian to follow her heart.

Christina Milian rushes to the theater while Pentatonix’s “Hallejula” plays, which is decidedly not a Christmas song. She bumps into Airport James outside the theater, and she tells him she can’t be with him and that she loves Teddy. James is actually meeting someone else there. (Awkward!) Then, she gets locked out of the venue and can’t get back in.

I think we watch a full Pentatonix holiday concert.

Teddy takes the stage and makes a grand gesture. He calls out for Christina Milian as she bursts into the theater, and they kiss in front of everyone and MELT THE UNIVERSE!

Pentatonix encore?!?! This time an original song.

The end!

Side Note/Stray Observations

Is Accapella finally dead?

Does anyone remember Christina Milian was a pop star herself?
