Inspired by true events. When Anya moves to a new town and is constantly mistaken for a “Sarah,” she soon discovers that she and Sarah are in fact identical twin sisters who were separated at birth unbeknownst to them. But when Anya decides to investigate why, she is soon met with a mysterious threat telling her it’s not in her best interest to find out. Stars Nicole Marie Johnson and Donny Boaz (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts
Anya works late into the night with an informant for a big story she is working on. As she waits for the elevator, Anya hears a clatter and decides to take the stairs instead. She is chased and shot at.
10 years later, Anya is now divorced, and her teen daughter, Mia, is annoyed they have moved out of the city into a small town. It is the only place Anya could find a job working in journalism. (Which is probably true!)
As Anya shops for flowers for her new home, she is followed by a man who leers at her. He shouts after her, but Anya runs off. The next day, he grabs her in a parking lot, mistaking her for his wife, Sarah. The man brings Anya to meet Sarah, and they are identical. Sarah and Anya have a lot of questions, but they discover they are both adopted and probably twins separated at birth. Both of their adoptive parents are dead. (So, no answers there!)
Mia makes friends with a neighbor named Benji, who introduces her to his girlfriend. Mia is disappointed that he isn’t single. When Mia comes home and sees her mom’s twin, she is like, WTF!?!?!?
Anya has Sarah and her husband Joseph for dinner. At the dinner, they try to figure out how they are related. Then Sarah spills a glass, causing Anya to rush up and get a towel, allowing Sarah to steal Anya’s glass and do a DNA test. Sarah brings the DNA test to their next dinner, and they are confirmed twins. Joseph works for the news station and wants to write a story about the long-lost twin sisters.
After they go public in a news interview, Anya gets a note on her car about the twins who found one another and weren’t so lucky. Then, Anya and Mia find their home broken into and ransacked.
Anya continues to get confused for Sarah, particularly by a handsome man named Leo. He asks Anya out on a date, and she reluctantly agrees. He seems pretty cool and doesn’t want to pressure Anya into a relationship. (Unlike Joseph, who keeps confusing her for his wife.)
Sarah and Anya continue to do the family dinners and discuss their upbringing while cooking. Sarah moved around a lot and always felt like a burden.
Anya stays later at the library, where Sarah works, and someone starts pushing stacks of books, trying to crush Anya. They also break her computer.
A woman named Colleen is found dead, and it looks like Anya isn’t the first one to see the body. A reporter named Haper Hayward was interviewing Colleen for a story she was doing about the twins, and it seemed really shady. Anya tells Joseph about his co-worker and her suspicion that Haper would do anything for the scoop on the twin story.
Anya follows a woman she thinks is following her and mistakes the blonde woman for Anya. They end up at a motel, and the woman is Sarah’s mother, who isn’t dead. Anya asks the woman to check her ID and shows baby pictures of Sarah. The mother admits that Harper called her and asked her to come to town for the story.
Sarah babysits Mia and tells her to fight her bullies. (Which is actually good advice; you really can’t ignore them.)
Anya realizes a source named Peter is also a twin. His brother twin brother and he were kidnapped by a doctor when they were kids, and the doctor wants the truth kept from Anya and all the press. There was a big medical research project on twins.
Anya talks with Sarah’s mom and convinces her to help her look for documents about the medical experiments at the dead woman’s house. They found a file of the polaroids of the twins involved in the study.
Mia is home alone and hears a noise outside. She goes to investigate and then hears someone at the back door. Mia calls her mother for help, but Anya is preoccupied with getting caught tampering with a crime scene instead. Mia calls Sarah to come over and tells Anya she wishes she was her mother instead.
Anya rushes home after getting out of police custody and is chloroformed when she walks through the door. It is Sarah’s mother, who isn’t Sarah’s mother at all; she is the doctor and is protecting her research.
Anya pretends to help the doctor and then smashes her in the head with a laptop. Anya rushes to save Sarah and Mia from the garage filling up with carbon monoxide.
The doctor wakes up and waves a gun around until Mia takes her out with a flower vase.
Haper Hayward gets the story, much to her delight. The sisters hug it out.
We see everyone at a family BBQ. Mia is thrilled to learn that Benji, the neighbor, has broken up with his girlfriend.
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
I kept forgetting which twin was which. I have a weird skill of telling identical twins apart. (Unless the same actress plays them.)
