Recap/Wine Thoughts
Based on a True Story.

Marcela Borges is bloody and beaten. She tries to escape, but her husband tells her not to. As the criminals burst through the door, Marcela pushes out the screen and jumps out the second-story window while pregnant.
Cut to Marcela and her husband Rubens leaving a doctor’s appointment. This is their second baby. Marcela rushes to pick up their five-year-old son, Ryan. He just graduated from kindergarten. She prepares for a graduation party. Rubens rushes off to work, where he is up for a promotion and is generally well-liked. They are unaware of two men trailing them.

While prepping for the party, the criminals case the joint and wait outside. The next day, they burst into the house with guns out and force the family to comply with their orders. They trash the place and tape the family’s hands. What are they looking for? We’re not sure, and neither is the family. The criminals demand money from Rubens, but he doesn’t know what they are talking about. Frustrated, the criminals beat him. They leave him for dead. They kidnap Marcela Borges and her son.
They pass through a security checkpoint, and Marcela Borges tries to subtly signal for help. The criminal grabs her son to stop her from trying anything else.

They are taken to a house and are surprised to find Rubens is there, too. The reunion is short-lived because the parents are interrogated in another room. Marcela tells them they have the wrong people. However, the criminals know all about them. They demand $200K in 24 hours. The couple claims they don’t have the money. However, the criminals discover 30K in a safe at their house. The criminals want Rubens to take money from his work. When he refuses, they beat him. They also lock Marcela in the trunk of a car.

Marcela is forced to open her bank account and transfer the funds. She does so and gets a sandwich in return. Marcela tries to work with the youngest criminal and convince him to let her go. He tells her that he will be killed if she escapes. The criminals then have Marcela drive them to the bank to make a withdrawal.

Every step of the way, Marcela tries to signal for help. At a gas station, she mouths for help at the security camera. She tries to raise red flags at the bank, but they are annoyingly accommodating and suspicious. The money is NOT enough.
Rubens calls his boss, Henry, and tries to remain calm while asking for money, 40K. When that doesn’t happen fast enough, they lock the family up for the night. Marcela vows to escape and defend her family.

The following day, Marcela asks for a glass of water. While she is in the kitchen with the lady criminal, Marcela grabs a knife and makes her move. The two fight fiercely. The lady criminal is revealed to be Bianca, a co-worker of Rubens. Now that they have seen her face, she plans to execute the family, and Marcela knows it. It is here that she decides to jump out of the window.

Marcela screams for help. The criminals chase after her and shoot at her. This sends Marcela crashing through a neighbor’s window. The neighbor calls the Police and is rightfully freaking out. The Police burst in. Marcela tells them to save her son. She gives them the license plate of the criminal’s getaway car.

The Police enter the home and find Rubens and Ryan alive. The whole family is rushed to the hospital and treated for their wounds. The baby survives the fall. The Trauma will take longer to get over.
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
I kept calling this movie Terror Comes A Knocking. Which is a much cuter title.
This movie was particularly violent for Lifetime.
I constantly try to think of TV actors who will move into the Lifetime world. Dascha Polanco from Orange is the New Black is a perfect choice.
Bianca Dos Santos is still at large, while her male accomplices, Miguel Santiz and Victor Sanchez, are serving life sentences. Oscar Diaz Hernandez is in a vegetative state after a suicide attempt gone wrong.
