Synopsis (via Lifetime)
Andi receives a lucky sleigh bell from a handsome stranger at a New Year’s party, only to pass it on. Years later, she wins a radio contest, and the host, Jake, turns her story into a segment.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts with a JINGLE BELL REMIX!!!!!
Andi wants to be the next Elle Woods and get into law school. She meets a handsome stranger at the party. He gives her a lucky jingle bell. It comes with three rules.
1) No keeing the bell
2) Once the bell helps, pass it along
3) No passing back and forth.
As the clock strikes midnight, someone spills their drink on Andi, and she runs to the bathroom. The handsome stranger disappears just as suddenly as she jingled into her life.
Seven years later, we meet Jake, a Boston DJ. Andi calls in about the Jingle Bell and tells the story. It makes for good radio. Jake tells Andi she is still pining for that missed connection, but she wins! Jake calls Andi with a pitch to have her on as a co-host for a holiday segment called “Ghost of Christmas: Jingle Bell Luck.” Andi declines because she has a fiancé and isn’t interested in the man from the party, and DEFINITELY not Jake.
Andi’s boss is annoyed with her being late for work, but he is pretending to conduct a symphony in his office for some reason. He is going to REALLY be annoyed after she tells him she is taking on a second job.
Her training for being on air is that the on-air sign will light up, and she is LIVE! Their first recording is rough, but they hit their stride and start linking the jingle bell cases with a serial killer wall. The red string would be festive if it weren’t ALWAYS red.
Jake and Andi spend time together in scenes that are clearly summer. They grow closer, and he even introduces Andi to his daughter! He is a widower and not the shock jock personality he is on air. Then they get into a fight about something. Andi is engaged, let’s not forget! This one is particularly contrived and lame.
Andi breaks up with her fiancé after he yells at her for picking scrubs green(he is a doctor) as their wedding color. He seemed like a jerk anyway.
Andi gets with Jake after his daughter talks some sense into him. They also find the jingle bell guy, but he’s gay! Just kidding, I wish.
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
This movie should have just stayed in 2024.
