Synopsis (via Lifetime)
A woman fakes her own death after fleeing an abusive marriage, but a viral video soon exposes her identity. With her violent past closing in and a killer on the loose, she must confront the truth to protect the man she loves.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts in a city parking garage where a woman is being chased by a killer. Just when he thinks she has gotten away, the killer gets her from the backseat.
Cut to a farmer’s market; Hallie is a big city girl in the country. Her friend Bree runs the town store and teaches Hallie how to be a small-town girl and how to flirt with the country boys. Specifically, Mark Beachum, who runs a farm outside of town.
Mark and Hallie quickly go out on a date, and we get a dating montage with a lot of outfit changes. Mark invites Hallie to his bedroom, and they get hot and heavy. She moves in quickly thereafter.
At a funeral for God knows who, a hot cop with stubble looks at a picture of a redhead woman, and I’m truly like WTF? Is the redheaded woman supposed to be Hallie? I think Hallie used to be Anna and is escaping an abusive relationship. I guess!
There is a CGI snake that must have cost this movie its whole budget. Then Bree is bitten by a snake, and Hallie takes her friend to the hospital. Someone films the commotion, and the clip goes viral on social media. That isn’t good for Hallie/Anna, who is faking her own death.
The local news picks up the story, and Mark can’t understand why she doesn’t feel proud of herself. The free publicity could help the farm, but Hallie is not comfortable putting herself out there, especially after she receives threatening texts from an unknown number. Then someone tries to rent the farm and sends a swim cap in the mail. Ominous? Not so much. Random AF. Yes.
Hallie starts sleepwalking and having nightmares about her past life. She is going to have to come clean to someone. Mark lists the farm as an Airbnb, and someone named Samantha from her past is the first guest. Samantha is thrilled to talk about Anna without blowing Hallie’s cover. Just subtly threatening to. FUN!
Mark and Bree start to feel like Hallie is hiding something, but chalk it up to her being from the city and not the country, like them!
Hallie and Samantha have it out in the backyard about Cole. (The hot cop) The movie skips over most of that conversation, leaving us, the viewer, in the dark about exactly WHY Cole is dangerous. Samantha doesn’t seem to care either and calls Cole to tell him where Anna/Hallie is.
Cole shows up and wants to talk to Anna. When she tries to get away and call the police, he reminds her that he IS the police. Cole drags Anna from her car, but she fights him off and drives to get help, but Mark is left with Cole and gets his ass beat.
Cole kills Samantha and holds Anna and Mark hostage. Anna/Hallie fled town after Cole killed the woman in the parking garage. She was going to expose him as a crooked cop and died trying to release the evidence.
Bree interrupts the hostage situation with muffins and money raised at the town fundraiser to help save the farm. Anna/Hallie tells her to “get lost”, but not before sneaking in a map of the farm, where she buried the incriminating evidence on Cole.
Mark and Cole wrestle over the gun, and Anna/Hallie runs to the barn. Hallie/Anna kills Cole with a wooden pallet she strung up and tells him, “Not all dangrous things deserve to live.” (a callback to the rattlesnake?)
Mark and Anna/Hallie get married in a field with TALL GRASS; they should watch out for snakes. Their kiss looks uncomfortable.
STRAY Thought
This movie could have been set up a lot better. Some details were saved for a BIG twist, but the scenario made no sense without the context.

I started watching this before seeing your report card or review, but I have to say the lead’s dresses and outfits were so cute, it was enough for me to keep watching. Of course, the story is predictable, but I liked the characters so was okay for being along for the ride. I like Mark and his acting it seems so relaxed and normal, but also made me wonder, are there any other POC there. Because I wasn’t spotting any. I didn’t like him going around Halle’s back and posting the B&B ad, that was kind of dirty especially when he can see that she is a private person, for whatever reasons. Was thinking that her working on that farm would get her in shape when her ex did show up. Speaking of which, Mark who has been working on the farm all of his life gets beat?! And why does everyone tell the villain what they will do. Just act scared and helpless until you can get the upper hand. But overall, glad it ended happily.
“Not all dangerous things deserve to live” she really thought she ate 🙄
