Recap/Wine Thoughts

A mother, Gabi, and daughter, Janelle, get into a screaming fight. Ending in the teen screaming. I WISH YOU WERE DEAD! When the father/dad comes home, he finds Gabi dead and his daughter crying over the body.

Six Months later, a blonde woman named Nikki gets a call from her IVF clinic. Years ago, there was a mix-up, and Nikki and her husband’s egg was mistakenly implanted into another woman. Nikki has a long-lost biological daughter, Janelle! Nikki tells her daughter Erica, who looks exactly like Janelle. (I thought they were the same actor.)

The family set up a meeting through the IVF clinic, which is trying to smooth things over. Janelle asks her Gay BFF to help her pick out something to wear, and he tells her he isn’t a stereotype. (His macrame shirt says otherwise.)
Janelle, her father Matthew, and Aunt Kelsey meet Nikki and Erica at the restaurant. They quickly bond over fashion and talk about the murder of Janelle’s mom. Nikki shares that her husband recently died in a car crash. A neighbor boy named Thomas stalks Janelle and takes her to the back alley to talk about what REALLY happened the night her mom died. Thomas gave the police a false alibi for Janelle. (Matthew paid Thomas to lie to the police.) Erica follows them and overhears the whole conversation.

Erica tries to talk to her mother on the way home, but Nikki tells her daughter she is just jealous. Erica calls her Gay BFF, and they send Thomas a friend request. Thomas quickly adds Erica on social media and tries to set up a meeting. Then he extorts his new “friend” for $500 to spill the truth about Janelle. Erica asks Gay BFF to go with her to the meeting. (If JJ ends up dead, I am going to be so upset.)

On Bring Your Long Lost Daughter to Work Day, Nikki shows Janelle the ropes of running a successful boutique. The store is randomly robbed in broad daylight, and Janelle saves the day, knocking him out with an iron. Nikki is so impressed that she offers Janelle a part-time job!
Erica and Gay’s BFF park at Thomases house and have a fender bender while trying to park. They assess the damage and go inside. They are shocked to find him murdered and run away.

Janelle meets Erica, Gay’s best friend, at a coffee shop and comes clean about the alibi. They agree to start over and give one another a sisterly chance. Matthew and Nikki also meet up, and he comes clean about his wife’s infidelity.

Aunt Kelsey, remember her? (ME NEITHER!) learns about some new evidence in Thomas’ murder. She has these bathroom flashbacks, and we learn she killed Travis because he tried to extort her for money. Then she thinks about killing a random co-worker named Carter, who was having an affair with her sister, Gabi. (The movie did promise affairs!!)
Erica goes over to Janelle’s house, and she notices the car she hit at Thomas’ murder scene. Erica tells Janelle, and Janelle knows Aunt Kelsey is up to no good. She confronts her Aunt, and Kelsey breaks down. She admits to catching her sister having sex with Carter, and it lead to a confrontation. Kelsey pushed Gabi, and her sister fell, hit her head, and died.

Aunt Kelsey grabs Erica and holds her at knifepoint. Matthew tries to intervene, but Aunt Kelsey stabs him. Then Nikki shows up, and Janelle tries to get rid of her, but Nikki rushes in. Nikki tries to calm everyone down while Janelle grabs another iron, just kidding, a cast iron skillet. (Which is iron, too, I guess.) She knocks Aunt Kelsey out.
Cut to a graduation party! Janelle and Kelsey are sisters, and they celebrate together! The end!
Stray Thoughts
I thought Aunt Kelsey was pretty random and that she was in love with Matthew.

Loved it!!!
So bad. Was this a farce?
Boring and bad movie. and Kabby borders still cannot act to save her life. Only character worth caring about was the gay best friend. Lead actress was great though. loved her in ‘party from hell’ (2021)
The entire movie is totally thought Kelsey was in love with Matthew and she killed her sister so she could have Matthew for herself. Boy was i wrong. I must be watching too many lmn movies cuz it seemed so obvious. In fact ive seen that plot in several movies. At least this had a twist. Other than that, it want very good. The sisters really did look related. Wonder if they are
