Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A recently single lingerie designer finally dives into the world of dating apps, and meets a handsome stranger who’s smart, successful…and a former contestant on the dating show, “Marry My Millionaire.” But soon she finds that the show wasn’t the only secret he failed to mention on his profile. Stephanie Sy and Jacob Blair star (2025).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Inspired by a True Story

A woman crawls through the woods while being pursued by a man. She is murdered.

Lingerie designer Ruby runs a successful line and is tragically single. She recently broke up with a guy named Luke, and someone is looking for him. Ruby gets pepper spray to defend herself. Luke is a reporter who has bad blood with the Chicago police after writing an article that paints them in a not-so-great light.

Her assistant thinks it is time to get back out there and start dating. They sign up for an app called Rina, which is exclusive to the rich and famous.

Ruby matches with a guy named Dylan, who was on a dating show called “Marry My Millionaire.” On the show, he proposes to a woman, so Rina is less thrilled about their date but still decides to go through with it.

The date goes better than expected, and Dylan and Ruby spend the night together. She is impressed by his lavish lifestyle and tells him she doesn’t usually hook up on the first date. They continue to date, and for some reason, Luke follows them and takes pictures. (At least he admits to it to Ruby. She tells Luke to leave her alone.)

Luke talks to Dylan’s ex-wife’s sister to learn more about Dylan. The sister tells Luke that Dylan isn’t a millionaire and a habitual liar. Grace recently went missing since breaking it off with Dylan.

Dylan tracks Luke down and stops him from investigating by murdering him. Since Dylan had many enemies, the police didn’t look into the murder, leaving Ruby to do her own research.

Ruby discovers that Dylan lied about his home and he probably killed Grace. Ruby confronts Dylan and hits him with a bat. She rushes to make her exit, but the host of the reality show stops her with a gun. The host has to keep up the reputation of the show? Dylan and the host fight it out while Ruby makes a run for it.

There is a whole thing with mannequins and sheets, but Ruby ends up stabbing Dylan.

The movie ends with a fashion show!

This one didn’t really come together for me.

  1. The pacing for this one was wayyyy tooo slow. Just endless talking for the first half of the movie. Definitely put a cork in it. And acting by the show host and ex boyfriend were horrendous.

  2. Oh boy I’m halfway into this movie. Ruby is annoying AF…Dylan is not cute. Ruby’s blonde friend should have been the lead. Her other friend is super dull and annoying.

  3. Sooo many Lifetime movie rookie mistakes. Her not doing background checks just because he was on TV, we know how reality shows do. The sister of the missing girl speaking with the journalist in a parking garage alone, her ex wielding a knife instead of calling the police, shaming your best friend for caring about you over a man you just met, working alone at night after getting unsettling news of your new man and then telling said person unsettling news while alone with him…at night…alone, drops weapon after using it, etc. The list goes on. And I am sorry that actor creeped me out. I never got handsome, hot or charming. He was just creepy. Actually, it seemed like creepy was her type… And for the love of all that is holy, stop telling people you are calling the police, just call the police.
