Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Inspirational talk show host Kendra (Tasha Smith) who is at the top of her game when she faces the tragic loss of her mother. At the urging of her team, Kendra takes time off to heal her soul and while on vacation, Kendra meets the man of her dreams, Malcolm (Adrian Holmes). Taken by his charm and good looks, Kendra gives into her desires and becomes caught up in a whirlwind romance and spontaneously marries Malcolm. Once the newlyweds return home, truths about Malcolm’s past start to come to light and he leads Kendra down a dangerous path. (2025)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie starts with a drugged Kendra falling asleep at the wheel.

Flash to nine months earlier, Kendra T Brown is a stylish talk show host trying to produce the show while her mother fights cancer. Kendra’s mother wants to stop treatment and let it be. They pray together, asking God to give the mother peace and Kendra a man. Instantly, Kendra’s mother passes away. (RIP, Mama!)

One month later, Kendra continued working on her show and finally made it to a hiatus. Her producers book an extravagant trip for Kendra to get some R&R. Her bodyguard, Charlie, is clearly into Kendra and insists on going with her “for her protection.” Charlie sweeps the honeymoon suite and watches over her while she tries to relax.

Kendra notices a hunk in a hot tub and is very interested in him. She continues to see the hunk around the grounds and makes eyes at him. They run into one another on a hiking trail, and she learns his name is Malcolm. He lives in Chicago and recently lost his wife to cancer. That experience caused him to look for A CURE FOR CANCER. (Plants, specifically pinecones.) They bond during their walk, and Charlie cock-blocks her. (He looks Malcolm up online and has been doing his research. He also hires a PI. Malcom checks out.)

Malcolm and Kendra have dinner and decide to give Charlie a day off so they can be on their own. Kendra thanks her mom for sending her the man of her dreams. They have so much in common!(Because Malcolm is a stalker and has a folder designated for Kendra articles.)

Kendra and Malcolm do yoga together, sit by the fire, and playfully box. Malcolm is slowly working up to a hard sell, but he has to hook Kendra first. Kendra is smitten and tells Charlie to back down. Charlie reminds Kendra that she knows Krav Maga. She isn’t using it on Malcolm because he proposes to her and arranges a quick marriage before she changes her mind.

Charlie still has a bad feeling, but he lets things roll and tries not to be too judgmental. He is not on staff at Malcolm’s mansion, where Kendra moves in.

Kendra feels like her life is a dream come true. The place is beautifully designed, and it has its own science lab. This should freak Kendra out, but she is impressed with the plant research. Malcolm mentions one of his investors losing money with BitCoin. Drug research needs funding, so Kendra decides to go public with the relationship and get him some real publicity.

Kendra finds the stalker notebook, but Malcolm is shirtless and in a towel, so she brushes it off.

The PI returns, and it seems like his first investigation wasn’t thorough enough. It turns out that Malcolm is BROKE and deep in debt. Charlie wastes no time and confronts Malcolm on the TV Show set. They get so close that they almost kiss. (and they probably should!)

The TV appearance goes well and the audience is into Kendra’s new man. After the taping, Charlie tries to warn Kendra about her husband, but she doesn’t hear it. A PA named Emma overhears the conversation and tells Malcolm that Charlie is onto him. Malcolm has all the excuses ready and explains away her concerns.

Emma comes clean and says Malcolm tricked her by offering to pay off her student loans to book the getaway so he could seduce Kendra. Kendra blames herself for letting a bad man into her life. Emma tries to distract Malcolm so Kendra and Charlie can break into the lab and get info.

Kendra and Malcolm finds lab journals, and they show that Malcolm is rigging the medical findings to get the drug trials to human trials. His wife knew Malcolm’s sinister plans and tried to stop him from illegally testing on humans.

Malcolm rushes in on them, and they fight. Charlie pulls out his gun and shoots Malcolm dead.

Nine months later, Kendra has transformed the drug into a lifesaver miracle drug. She starts her own clinic and names it in honor of Malcolm’s wife. Whoops, just kidding, she names it after her mother. Charlie and Kendra aren’t a couple and I’m pretty sure he still works for her. They decide to take it one step at a time.

STRAY Thoughts

Kendra was very Oprah-coded.

The time jump durations were really random,

  1. Not a fan of this “Temptations” movie series so far. I would’ve preferred to see the Sloth and Gluttony movies instead of this. That way, the seven sins movie series would be complete.

  2. “They have so much in common!” Red Flag. I think she was too much into her grief to not see the signs. She is a high-profile celebrity; how easy would it be to have lots in common with her. I mean I am sure many have something in common with Beyonce’, because they want to. This actress was (s)lacking in this movie; she was much better in the Why Did I Get Married Tyler Perry movies-IMO

  3. I’m with you if someone has to much in common with a person. Especially someone famous, that is a huge red flag. I can totally understand how she got lost in him though. He is a nice looking man and she was still grieving her mother. And that is a hurt I wish no one to have. Stay single ladies and gentlemen. The games people are playing will get someone killed.
