Grace Anderson’s new job as a nanny for the mayor’s family turns into a nightmare when a murder rocks the town and she starts receiving ominous messages. Now, Grace starts to question what deadly secrets are lurking in her hometown. Golden Madison, Julia Borsellino star. (2025)
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Police arrive on the scene of a murder in the woods. A woman named Yasmine is dead from a gunshot wound, and a grizzly detective orders an autopsy.

Four months later, we meet Grace. She is in town from Philly to see her old friend, Andrea. Andrea has her own cafe, is nosy AF, and is rude to her staff. There is also a lot of ADR exposition slotted into this opening, including: the murder remains unsolved, Yasmine’s brother Craig Davis fights to keep the search for her killer going, and the Mayor (and old high school acquaintance) Alex has hired Grace as a temporary nanny for the summer. Mayor Alex gives Grace the rundown of his overprotective wife, Emily, and their son, Andy.

Mayor Alex’s mother, Vivian, lives with her son and is a total snob. Grace tries to win her over by mentioning that she used to be a teacher, but Vivian isn’t interested in getting to know the help. Speaking of the help, there is Chef Colin and a housekeeper named Louise. Grace goes all in on teacher mode and has Andy make a family tree and do a DNA test!??!?!??!!??! Colin warns Grace to stay on Vivian’s good side because she runs things in the household.
Victoria, an old Nanny for the family, also warns Grace to be careful with the family. Victoria and Yasmine were best friends. Victoria goes kayaking, and someone bashes her head with a rock while dressed in all black. Andy finds the body while retrieving a soccer ball. (I unfortunately LOLed here, such a funny moment to me.) Detectives stupidly rule the death an accident. (The ex-nanny is found dead right outside the house?) Grace is rattled, and Andrea helps calm her down by doing a little night stalking. They see Colin going into Victoria’s house.

When Grace arrives at Mayor Alex’s mansion, she hears Emily and Vivian fighting because it turns out that Victoria was PREGNANT! Colin and Louise take the news particularly hard because they worked closely with Victoria. Were Colin and Victoria close enough to be the baby daddy? Andy tells Grace that everyone loved Victoria, except his grandmother, Vivian.
Grace calls her husband, James, and vents about the whole murder in town and finding the body. Her husband bumbles and half hardly offers to come into town sooner.

The rugged Detective changes his story and rules Victoria’s death suspicious, and knows there is a killer on the loose. Colin admits that he was with Victoria the night before she died, AND he used to date Yasmine. (Damn Colin gets around.) Grace receives a text telling her to “mind her business, or else!” (Which is hilarious because she is the only one NOT gossiping.) The Detective traces the text, and the CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE. (Or a three-mile radius.)
While hosting a party at the mansion, Colin asks Grace to grab something from a creepy food pantry, and she gets locked in. Louise hears Grace calling for help and rushes to help, but ends up falling down the stairs and dying. Grace passes out and ends up in the hospital. Husband James is by her side, but just for a moment because he has a REALLY important meeting!

Colin approaches Grace while she gets out of her car at night. (Not creepy!) I think he might be wearing an ankle monitor. Colin tries to place the blame on Vivian, but he is looking pretty suspicious himself. Vivian wakes Grace up and tells her that Colin is dangerous. Grace doesn’t know whom to believe. Then Colin pulls a knife on Grace, and she screams for help while literally running with scissors. It all turns out to be a dream. (Annoying.)
Andy tells Grace that he can access Colin’s iPad to play games and that the password is his birthday. Grace goes snooping and finds Vivian doing the same thing. Grace and Vivian work together and learn that Victoria and Colin were dating, and find a gun. They bring the evidence to Emily, who is with Colin, and they seem more upset about the snooping. The police take Colin in for questioning, but aren’t charging him with anything.

Remember that unauthorized DNA kit Grace sent out on behalf of a minor? It shows that Mayor Alex is NOT Andy’s father. When Emily learns about the DNA test, she has some concerns, but doesn’t admit to anything. Then the truth comes out, Andy’s father is Grace’s husband JAMES?!?! He had a tryst with Emily on a work trip ten years ago before he was married to Grace.

With the new information Grace re-checks in with Emily and tells her that she knows about Andy’s real father. Emily admits to having an affair and being unsure of who the father was. Emily blames Grace for ruining her family and pulls a knife out. Emily planted the gun on Colin and killed Victoria because she was having an affair with Mayor Alex. Emily also killed Louise, the housekeeper, because she “knew too much.” (Like, damn Emily! You’re heartless!)
Andy walks in on the ladies fighting and stops his wife from killing again. They call the police, and Emily is arrested and put on trial.
A year later, Grace is pregnant, and Andy will be a big half-brother! THE END

Wait, so at the end the Mayor is suddenly ok with having a blended family and makes nice with James who had an affair with his wife? Seems unlikely.
So, we all knew it couldn’t be the person, everyone thought it could or should be. I flipped flopped between 2 people, based solely on body size. But Lifetime will clearly show a person dressed in black and then the culprit ends up being the opposite stature of what they showed originally so I couldn’t depend on that. Also knew that the DNA results would come into play. 3/4 through, I knew the who, and kind of the why. This was a fun little romp while cooking, not the cream of the crop, but not the bottom layer either. Gotta say the little boy was adorbs and not annoying at all
We love a not annoying kid!
