Toni Braxton plays bestselling author Mel Montgomery, whose world unravels when she discovers her boyfriend Richard has been deceiving her. When Mel learns Richard is now engaged to her estranged college friend Monica, the two women, with the help of Mel’s loyal best friend Candy, set aside old wounds to stand together. What begins as betrayal becomes a story of resilience and solidarity–proving Richard picked the wrong trio to mess with. Because in the end, it was never about the man who failed them, but the women who chose each other. Always and without question… sisters over misters. Toni Braxton, Essence Atkins, Yvette Nicole Brown, Thomas Cadrot star. (2025)
Recap/Wine Thoughts

Toni Braxton has a sexy app designer boyfriend, Richard, a hit book, Karma Has No Secret, and a best friend named Candy. Life is goooooooooood!
Candy is an empty nester who is struggling to bring the love back to the boudjuar. Toni Braxton’s smutty books are the only thing keeping her going. Candy’s husband cooks, cleans, and rubs her feet, so she can’t quit her bitchen.

Toni Braxton comes home from a day of book signing, plays a record, and dances around. She unpacks some boxes and remembers college days. Richard comes home drunk and frustrated about his job. He tells Toni Braxton she needs to support him, but she invested money in his app, and he calls her SELFISH. Toni Braxton kicks him out, gets drunk, and cries to Candy about Richard’s disrespectful man-child behavior.

MONTAGE OF GETTING RID OF ALL HIS STUFF. (Instead of burning it, they sell it online, which is. Genius. My next boyfriend better watch out.)
Toni Braxton makes amends with a friend, Monica, who was also married to a deadbeat guy. Love had them slow on the uptake, and Toni Braxton feels diminished. Her friend encourages her not to let a man take her spark.

The trio of college friends, Spells Belles, is back together! They go to the spa, drink shots of tequila, and just enjoy each other’s company, dancing to back that thing up.

The friendship is cut short when Monica brings her new boyfriend, Richard, to her birthday party. Monica is smitten and somehow unaware of what she has done. Meanwhile, Toni Braxton freaks out in the bathroom and comes out to see Richard proposing to her friend. It is a horror show.
When Toni Braxton brings up her past with her, Monica changes her tune, saying she made Rhicard a better man and that Toni Braxton is just jealous. Monica confronts Richard, but he has an answer for everything. It’s too convenient, and Monica gives back his fake ass ring.
Monica and Toni Braxton team up to get revenge; they tow his car and laugh off the lawsuit he files claiming he is common-law married to Toni Braxton. Richard begs them to stop coming after him, and they come to an agreement.

I almost forgot to mention this hot neighbor, Toni Braxton is dating, instead of having sexy time… they do a puzzle with dogs on it. That is not romantic. Speaking of romance, Candy finds out that her husband is suffering from erectile dysfunction, and THAT is why they aren’t having sex. He needs the pill!

At Toni Braxton’s book release, the friends toast to sisters before misters. It doesn’t last long because Monica is onto the next man, Toni Braxton is with her sexy neighbor, and Candy is getting it on with her husband in a limo.
The movie ends with the titular song, THANK GOD!
STRAY Thoughts
Toni Braxton is so great. I love her.
The comedy in this movie was fun. I’m glad they didn’t get FULL Lifetime revenge and kept things pretty grounded plot-wise.

Damn. Some of the things Richard (we need to call him Dick, suits him better) said during their fight were unreal. And then in the middle he tells her let’s go have make up sex?! Wow. That a Lotta nerve. I was worried she’d do it. And based on most LMN I thought she’d take him back after a little while. Cuz she felt old and desperate etc. I love that her character was a strong, independent, smart bad ass black woman. We need more of this type of character in more movies. Little girls need to start learning, more and more, that they are powerful, courageous and dont need to take shit from ANYONE let alone a man (or any significant other). I’m so tired of these chicks in movies behaving as if they’re nothing unless they have a relationship, kid etc. As if any other accomplishments in her life would mean nothing if she didnt have the family. Its insane. What we’re telling our kids /girls mostly is that we’re NOTHING without a guy to supposedly “complete us”. Its 2025(almost 2026) its about damn time we have more characters like this chick and less women who take their cheating man back no matter what.
Thanks to Toni Braxton and LMN bringing us a strong, independent, smart woman who takes no shit from her man. Let’s see lots more of this
The entire movie I kept waiting for someone to get killed, kidnapped etc. Like in all other lmn movies. Even tho I was pretty sure that wouldn’t happen, it was still in the back of my mind. It was a nice change. Refreshing. Look forward to more like this
