Holly James (Vandervoort), a passionate glassblower striving to establish her artistic identity, dreams of showcasing her creations at the Fern Grove Fair. Despite previous rejections from Jack Dubois (Huszar), who oversees the entries, Holly finds an unexpected opportunity to assist legendary glassblower Bianca Bonhomme, to help Jack. Unfortunately, Bianca is struggling with a creative slump and needs help managing her booth. While Holly assists Bianca, she also secretly displays her own art under a pseudonym and her vibrant work becomes a surprise hit, overshadowing Bianca’s work and challenging the fair’s traditional norms. Holly does everything she can to help Bianca without giving away her identity while also growing closer to Jack, but unfortunately Walter, a news reporter, discovers the mystery and outs Holly, shattering her relationship with both Bianca and Jack. Holly is now forced to pick up the pieces and try to melt them back together
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Jack DuBois is Blanche’s grandson, apparently. He runs the Christmas market and has rejected Holly as a vendor multiple years in a row. Holly begs Jack to let her display as an emerging artist.
Holly is a glass blower who makes ornaments and posts them on social media. Holly agrees to serve as Bianca’s assistant after Bianca’s assistant is forced to step down due to a scheduling error. Holly is too high-energy for the artist and isn’t into the colorless glass vases on display.
Jack’s father (Who doesn’t know what a Social Media Manager is) might sell the Christmas Market, but Jack tries to save it by wooing a popular reviewer, Walter Gregson.
Verre is Holly’s Artist Pseudonym, not to upset Bianca that another glassblower is in town. The ornaments sell very well, and Bianca gets jealous.
Everyone has a statement lip in this movie, and it is distracting me because it is a plot point? Maybe?
Jack breaks one of Bianca’s vases, and Holly makes a new one with Jack. Cue SEXY GLASS MAKING. Which is not a thing. Glass blowing is dangerous and scary. Jake opens up about his grandpa selling the Christmas fair if it isn’t a success. Holly encourages Jack to just go for it!
Bianca and Holly start to inspire each other’s work and offer advice. Even though Bianca doesn’t even know Holly’s name. When Bianca finds out that Holly is Verre. It is this whole scene.
“I’m VERRE!!!!!!!!”
It doesn’t matter though because. The Christmas festival is approved by the reviewer thanks to SOCIAL MEDIA and the emerging artist booth. Jack is the new director of the festival, and his grandpa will retire. Bianca offers to recommend Holly for the Artist-in-Residence program and keep her on as her assistant.
Romance is the C-plot here, but Jack and Holly kiss at the end, soooo yay?
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
The soundtrack in this one KILLED MEEEEEEEEE
Bianca sure didn’t run out of names that rhyme with Holly. Dolly, Polly, Jolly, Lolly, Mollie.
