Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A new mother begins to suspect that her nanny is scheming to steal her baby and her husband–but no one believes her due to the postpartum depression she suffered after the child was born. Jonathan Stoddard, and Katerina Eichenberger (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Molly has terrible nightmares about a woman dressed in a flowy red gown stealing her new baby, Emma. Molly is haunted by these nightmares and is stressed about returning to work after her maternity leave. Her doting husband, Noah, is worried but tries to reassure his wife that everything will be okay.

She really is a good screamer

Postpartum depression is a real bitch, and Molly is in therapy and on medication to try to keep things from overwhelming her. Even the task of finding a nanny is too much. Molly resorts to a postpartum chat group and asks for recommendations. One new mom sends a resume for a woman named Nicci.

At the interview, Nicci offers to feed a fussy baby, which seems natural. Noah has concerns that Nicci is too young to be a nanny, and Molly thinks it might be too soon to go back to work, but after checking with her references, they decide to go for it and bring Nicci on as a full-time nanny.

The very little background checks these Lifetime families put into finding a nanny needs to stop!

Nanny Nicci brings her mobile for the baby and is a godsend! She even catches it when Molly accidentally makes a bottle of grout instead of formula. Molly blames herself and slips further into a depression. The doctor changes her meds, and that isn’t the only change Nicci gets a new hairdo! (Or a blonde bob wig.)

The wigs, however, should never stop!

Molly brings her baby to work for the first day. Molly has a good eye for design, and her friend/co-worker Lindsey feels inadequate. When Molly returns to work later, ranting about Nanny Nicci putting something in her tea, Lindsey calls Noah, thinking that Molly is having a postpartum episode.

In therapy, Molly vents about Nanny Nicci. She shares her concerns about the nanny stealing her life and tells the therapist about Nanny Nicci pronouncing the word “facades” wrong. The doctor ups Molly’s medications. (Later, the doctor realizes she remembers the mispronunciation because a former patient said it that way. The doctor tries to warn Molly, but Nicci Nanny kills her when the doctor shows up at the house.)

Noah is feeling stressed and scholds Molly when she tells him about the hallucinations she is experiencing. He worries about how much she is sleeping and that she hasn’t returned to work. Lindsey also worries about her friend and visits Noah to commiserate about Molly’s postpartum. (Nanny Nicci sees them hugging and gets jealous.) Nicci drinks wine with Noah and tells him she is worried Lindsey is crossing a line. Noah admits that he did date Lindsey before her was into Molly.

Nicci ices Lindsey out and won’t let her visit Molly. Causing Lindsey to look into Nanny Nicci’s background.

The weird things keep happening, such as a photo of Molly’s family with “Bad Momma” scribbled all over it. Molly steals the photo and hides it in her room, worried that she is the one who vandalized the picture in a sleepwalking situation. Molly hears scary voices that call her “Bad Mommy!” When she looks at the image later, the writing is gone. (Yikes!)

Molly has no one else to turn to for help, so she goes to her group chat. As she messages, she hears a ding coming from Nicci’s computer in her house. Then she finds a red show box with baby pictures inside of a baby named Aurora Prince and what looks to be a funeral program. Then she goes to the park, takes her daughter from Nicci, and drops the baby off at work with a co-worker.

The calls are coming from inside the house!

Molly finds an address in one of the shoebox pictures. The house belongs to Nanny Nicci’s mother, and the baby’s room is still intact, complete with a mobile. Molly sees all she needs to see to know that something is very wrong. She calls work and tells Lindsey that Nicci is a liar. She asks Lindsey to look into Nicci. (Lindsey finds a lot of incriminating evidence.)

Nanny Nicci takes the baby from work and breastfeeds her.

Molly rushes home and tells Noah everything that is going on. She must protect her baby and get Nanny Nicci away from her daughter. Noah supports his wife. Molly overhears Nanny Nicci and her husband talking on the baby monitor and into the garage with a knife. There, she finds the dead body of her doctor.

When she whisper yelled “help,” it freaked me out! The stuff of nightmares.

Nanny Nicci has a syringe full of yellow stuff, and she tries to stick Molly with it unless she gives her the baby. Molly gives Nanny Nicci the baby, but it is a stuffed animal wrapped in a blanket. Molly pushes Nanny Nicci down the stairs and screams:

“I WOULDN’T LET YOU TAKE MY BABY, YOU BITCH!!!!!” (It’s so pitch-perfect; LOVED IT! Haha)

I didn’t notice she fell with the syringe still in hand!

Lindsey shows up and is relieved to see that Molly is okay. Molly thanks Lindsey for telling her that Nanny Nicci is dangerous, and Lindsey has no idea what Molly is talking about. Molly is being gaslit by her best friend. Molly catches Lindsey lying when she mentions the baby monitor voices. Molly realizes that Lindsey switched out the grout with the formula and killed the doctor.

This twist got me!

Lindsey grabs the knife and cuts her arms to frame Molly for the doctor and nanny’s murder. She screams at Molly for stealing Noah from her and stealing her the life that should have been hers. Just as Lindsey is about to stab Molly, Nicci syringes Lindsey with diazepam and knocks her out.

Molly returns to work, and Noah visits her at her job with Baby Emma! There is a nursey in the office now! No nanny needed.

One happy family!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

I feel bad for Nicci! She wasn’t a murderer/stalker and was just grieving her baby. Maybe she got a little too obsessed with Molly and her baby.

  1. “The very little background checks these Lifetime families put into finding a nanny needs to stop!” Yes! And in the beginning the dad was overly enthusiastic about any “trick” the nanny used. So I knew he was going to be a husband who supports his wife’s paranoia, but deep down thinks she is losing it. I was wrong he was very honest about how he was feeling, and I have to respect that. And why are you hiring young nannies that could potentially endanger your marriage? The end twist was good
