The Mitchell brothers compete to see who can create the best Christmas House
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Mike Mitchelle and his family are back! He is still working on the legal drama Handsome Justice and dating single mother Andi. They plan to head home for the holidays and want to decorate The Christmas House.
The movie handles the exposition from the precious movie differently, kind of a Modern Family/Documentary style confessionals.
Brandon and Jake are also coming to town with their son and baby daughter. Jake tries to calm Brandon down from getting caught up in the decoration competition and focus on making a memorable Christmas for their kids.
The parent’s Bill and Phylis, are in a community theater Christmas production and get an opportunity to be featured on a reality show about The Christmas House. The redheaded producer pitches a brother off. Brandon and Mike will go head to head for the best-decorated house.
To add to the chaos that the family was trying to avoid, Andi’s ex, Zane, arrives to spend the holiday with his son. He is pretentious and well-traveled.
The stress gets to Brandon, and he fights with his brother on camera. He feels embarrassed for acting out and feels like he has something to prove, always in his brother’s shadow as the gay brother. Jake tells Brandon that he loves him and not to worry about what others think.
The redheaded producer starts overly planning moments with Mike’s family, and he tells her that the show isn’t about them. It’s about the CHRISTMAS HOUSES 2.
After getting kicked out of their parent’s theater performance, the brothers come to an understanding. Brandon was distraught that his kids would like Mike more than him, just like everyone else. Mike says that is impossible because Brandon is his favorite person. It is a beautiful moment.
The brothers go live on national television. They take the opportunity to honor their mom and dad. (And publicize their play.) Everyone is touched by the tribute.
Both houses end up looking great when it is time to make the big announcement; Brandon wins and decides to move home! Mike also wins because he proposes to Andi.
