Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Kaley is unable to return home for the holidays when a snowstorm derails her plans. She is determined to teach the girls she watches as an Au Pair the magic of Christmas. (2021)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Kaley names Christmas pancakes for some kids who aren’t hers. (She is a nanny.) Then she goes to work on pitching some social media. (Her parents don’t understand her job can call Viral, “Virus.”) Kaley is up for a job in the city, but she is afraid to take a chance on something new.

The couple Kaley works for, Margaret and Miles, typically give their Au Pair the holidays off. They fly to New York for the night for a holiday party. Mile’s brother Ethan is also coming in for the holidays and is a businessman. Kaley agrees to stay one more day to help them watch the girls, and Ethan comes into town early.

The two see each other at a toy store and fight over the same toy. Ethan gets the toy, much to Kaley’s annoyance. Later that night, he rings the doorbell and is surprised to see Kaley is the Au Pair.

A Christmas blizzard comes in sooner than expected. Margaret and Miles are stuck in NYC. The parents tell Kaley to go home because Ethan can take care of the girls, but Kaley is hesitant, especially when Ethan almost burns the house down, making pancakes.

Uncle Ethan really is inept at caring for Children, and it seems like Kaley will miss Christmas with her family because he is such a failure. Ethan lets Kaley take care of the girls while he works and avoids texts from an ex-girlfriend named Patricia.

We get some REAL snow time with the girls and Uncle Ethan playing in the snow. They race to build snowmen and go ice skating. Then they watch Kaley’s favorite Christmas movie, cuddle on the couch, and brush hands while eating popcorn. (Minus the kids.)

Christmas carol singing montage, a Christmas pancake cooking challenge, and gingerbread house making happen back to back.

Ethan surprises Kaley by bringing her parents into town. She is thrilled, and it is a very kind gesture. (If a little strange that her parents could get into town, no problem, but her boss can’t.)

The Christmas activities don’t stop! Ugly sweater-making happens.

Then while Kaley’s parents watch the kids, Ethan and Kaley go for a walk and talk about their dreams. Kaley gets a job offer, and Ethan wanted to be an artist growing up.

Gina, Kaley’s friend, tells Kaley that she recognizes Ethan. He was engaged to a socialite named Patricia and was to be married on Christmas Eve. Kaley feels foolish for falling for Ethan and his non-parenting ways. Then she looks him up online and adds insult to injury.

The storm continues, and it looks like the parents aren’t going to make it in from NYC. Uncle Ethan promises his nieces that a Christmas miracle will bring them home. Kaley reprimands him for making promises to children that he can’t keep, but really she is venting about his secret engagement.

On Christmas Day, the kids are disappointed that their parents aren’t there Christmas morning. Then Santa bursts through the door. It is their dad! (and mom.) Ethan called Patricia and had her hire a private plane. (He couldn’t have done that before?) Ethan apologizes to Kaley and tells her that he cares about her, NOT Patricia. He asks her to take a chance on him, and she tells him that it isn’t practical. Then hey randomly agree to move to New York together and kiss.

Everyone opens presents! Merry Christmas!
