Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A busy working mother hires a nurse to care for her wealthy father who has early onset dementia. Soon a bizarre deception creeps into play when the seductive nurse makes a play for the family fortune. Joanne Jansen, Neville Edwards, and Sierra Woolridge star. (2021)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie opens up in a nursing home; a nurse gives a wealthy patient, Ruth, a lethal injection and kills her.

Madison, her husband Emmett, and their daughter Hailey host a memorial in her mother Ruth’s memory. Warren, Madison’s father, is lost without his wife Ruth and is taken care of by a handsome butler named Gregory. (Warren is sickly and senile.) Arnold, the family financial advisor, wants to talk to Madison, but she drinks wine with the office manager, Nia.

When Warren has a panic attack at the memorial, a nurse named Rebecca helps him at the party. She introduces herself as Ruth’s nurse. (The lethal injection one?) Warren is taken to the hospital and diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s.

Rebecca sticks around the house while Madison and Emmett are at the hospital and helps clean up with Hayley. She wins over the pre-teen and even makes dinner. Rebecca causally mentions needing a job before leaving. She gets in a car with her criminal little brother, Jesse, and they follow Gregory to a bar.

Gregory downs shots, and Rebecca seduces him. Rebecca is kinky and ties Gregory to the bedpost; then, she injects him with something to make his heart explode. She obviously will apply to be his replacement while he is in a medically induced coma.

Arnold continues to pressure Maddy to sell the family business, and she seriously considers it. Warren is suspicious of the financial advisor and tells his daughter not to sell. He also forgets that Ruth died again. (It is very sad.)

Rebecca gets a call from Maddison with a job proposal. She actually seems qualified for the job and lands it no problem. This gives Rebecca ample access to Warren’s medications. (Which she messes with.) The new position also gives Rebecca plenty of time to snoop around Warren’s files.

Hailey crashes her grandfather’s car and freaks out. Rebecca helps smooth things over and tells the teen that she owes her.

Madison decides to call Rebecca’s references, and Jesse poses as them. Jesse thinks things are moving too slow and wants to shoot Warren himself, but Madison tells her brother that they will get their revenge slowly but surely.

Her next ploy is to take Warren to the woods and leave him stranded, wandering around until he trips and injures himself. At the hospital, Madison explains that he needs continual care and offers to stay with him overnight. Deep into the night, Madison works on unlocking a hidden safe in Warren’s room.

Rebecca puts on one of Ruth’s dresses/perfume and impersonates her to the confused man when she can’t crack the code. She asks Warren for the combination, but he can’t remember the combo.

A doctor runs Warren’s laps at a check-up and is worried about his system’s levels of sleeping medication. He isn’t the only one worried. Maddy thinks that her father seems confused and overtired. She also smells her mother’s perfume on Rebecca and decides to run a background check.

With no luck at home, Rebecca sets her sights on the office manager, Nia, for access to Warren’s files. When Nia doesn’t offer any info, Jesse kills her. Arnold tells Warren about Nia’s death, then Jesse beats up and almost kills him too.

Rebecca puts on Ruth drag again and presses Warren for the safe information. This time he remembers! Rebecca and Jesse get into the safe.

Hailey comes clean about the car accident, and Rebecca covers it up. Maddy and Emmett rush to the house and find Arnold bloody on the floor. He tells them that Rebecca is Warren’s client’s child, and she has kidnapped him for revenge for a deal gone wrong.

Rebecca takes Warren to the Lakehouse and then douses the home in gasoline. Maddy finds them and tries to stop Rebecca, but she is hit in the face with a crowbar.

Rebecca tells Maddy that her father was a client of Warren’s who killed himself after losing money from Warren’s bad investments. Maddy asks what she can do to fix it, and Rebecca tells Maddy no amount of money is enough. She forces Maddy to sign power of attorney over to Rebecca by showing Emmett and Hailey being held at gunpoint by Jesse.

After Maddy signs, Rebecca dumps more gasoline on the floor and lights a match as she tells Maddy that she killed Ruth. Maddy frees herself and knocks Rebecca/Jane out with her dad’s cane before she can set the house on fire.

The family is saved! The end!
