Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When a woman reunites with her high school sweetheart, she’s shocked to learn how far he’s willing to go to keep their high school memories, and their relationship, alive.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Dani is s a beautiful/successful real estate agent fiance who her workaholic husband ignores. Todd even reschedules couples therapy. The couple heads off to work and a burglar breaks in and installs nanny cams all around the house. (Specifically in the plants and bedroom, cause it is a Lifetime movie!) Then the hooded man adds Danielle on social media.

In therapy, Dani lays down a lot of exposition. Dani and Todd haven’t been having sex and are stuck in a rut. It is tough because they’ve rescheduled their wedding but haven’t sent a new date.

The friend request from “The Circle” comes through, and Dani is excited it is from an old high school boyfriend named Danny Brooks. They message back and forth, Danny is always working out with his shirt off; THANK GOD!

Dani meets up with Ms. Vivica A Fox for coffee to gush about the reconnection with Danny Brooks; she tells her not to get caught up in old feelings and remember she is in a relationship with Todd.

Danny and Dani meet up for drinks and catch up. Dani shares that her parents died, and his parents are living in Italy. When Danny starts hitting on Dani, Todd shows up and interrupts. Todd is very not threatened. Danny makes lame jokes about Al Bundy??? Danny hires a hunk to hit on Dani while she goes to the bathroom so he can intervene and be the hero. The altercation just gets Dani horny, and she takes Todd home for some sexy time. (Danny watches on nanny camera with an angry face emoji impersonation look on his face.)

Dani and Danny meet at a coffee shop to talk about real estate and their past relationship. Dani admits that she feels like she is doing something wrong, but Danny reassures her that he just wants to reconnect. Then he takes her to their old high school. They wander around, and Dani does some LAME LAME LAME cheerleading. Then they make out and are caught by Ms. Vivica A. Fox, who does NOT approve, and kicks them out. She shames Dani for her behavior and reminds her that she has a fiance.

Dani comes clean to Todd, and he is enraged. He marches over to Danny’s house and tells him to stay away from his fiance. Danny is cocky (oh and shirtless again) and basically calls Todd a weak man. Danny lifts weights like a maniac when Todd leaves while screaming a cheerleader chant.

Dani apologizes to Danny for the misunderstanding and explains that she in Todd are in couples therapy to work on their relationship. Danny doesn’t get it and continues to watch his old high school sweetheart on video while working out. Then he shows up at Dani’s job and scares off a potential buyer. Dani screams at Danny to stay out of her life.

Danny does the opposite and tracks down the couple’s therapist. He tells her that she should manipulate Dani into falling in love with him. She tells him to leave her office and seek treatment ASAP. The therapist calls Dani to warn her about Danny, but Danny runs her over in the parking lot.

ERIC ROBERTS SHOWS UP!!!! This time as a detective who questions Dani about the hit and run with the therapist. She tells him about Danny and is worried that he is out of control. She talks to Ms. Vivica A Fox, who is more understanding than the police. She suggests asking another old friend for information about Danny.

Ms. Vivica A Fox does some research and confronts Danny at a bar, while Dani goes 30 miles out of town to talk to an old friend of Danny’s named Jake. He warns Dani that Danny is dangerous and gives her the info for Danny’s college girlfriend, Amy. Then Jake is killed by Danny for spilling the tea.

Dani meets up with Amy and realizes they experienced the same obsessive behavior from Danny. Amy told Danny off, and he moved on to Dani. Dani asks Amy to go with her to the police and help stop him. Amy declines because she is too fearful of Danny.

Todd finds the nanny cams in the house and brings them to Danny’s house. Danny invites him in and then hits Todd with a baseball bat. He calls Dani, tells her to meet him in the school auditorium, and uses Todd as bait.

Dressed in an ill-fitting tuxedo, Danny welcomes Dani. He thinks that she will fall in love with him at that moment and promises to take Dani to see Todd afterward. He admits to killing the therapist and Jack to get one last dance with Dani.

As they dance, Danny smells Dani’s hair and is just generally creepy. He laughs maniacally and asks for a kiss. Dani stops him and asks to chew a piece of gum. Then she searches around her purse and smashes him in the face with something. He chases her around the school, and Dani finds Todd.

Dani tries to untie Todd and screams at Danny, “It’s not our fault that your life sucks!” (Which maybe you shouldn’t say to a psycho who peaked in high school.) Danny cries, but he is stopped by Ms. Vivica A. Fox with a baseball bat.

Everyone is saved, and Todd finally sets a wedding date.

Ms. Vivica A Fox and Dani have some cocktails; it is just an opportunity for her to say the titular line of the movie. “You just had… The Wrong Highschool Sweetheart” TWICE!
