Synopsis (via Lifetime)
Twins Jada and Kayla (both played by Tatyana Ali) could not be more opposite: Jada being the mild-mannered sister with an office job, and Kayla the wild child. Recently divorced from her husband Warren (Justin Bruening), Kayla asks Jada to watch her daughter while she sets up her new apartment. But after a few days with no word from Kayla, Jada begins to worry and reports her sister missing. With no leads and the police investigation at a standstill, Jada takes matters into her own hands. She disguises herself as her sister and gets pulled into a world of drugs and deceit in order to learn the shocking truth about what really happened to Kayla.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Tatyana Ali plays twins, and apparently, this movie is inspired by true events, meaning twins exist.
Jada and Kayla are single mothers/twins who look out for one another. Kayla asks for Jade for $2000 and heads out for the day, then she never returns. Jada looks for her sister, at first annoyed and then worried.
Warren, Kayla’s ex-husband, isn’t worried, thinking she is off on a bender. He thanks Jade for helping him watch his daughter Olivia until Kayla comes back. (He had to work the overnight shift.)
Jasmine Guy shows up in this movie as a pissed-off detective. She helps Jade when she reports Kayla as missing, FIVE DAYS LATER!!!!!
Jade goes undercover as her sister when she gets frustrated that Jasmine Guy is following police protocols. She heads to a club that Kayla frequented as KAYLA! She smokes cigarettes with strange men, and a guy named Hector and his girls offer her cocaine. Jade asks the bartender what she was like the last time she was in the bar, and he laughs at her. Then someone roughs her up and demands she give him his money in the next 48 hours, or else.
Jasmine Guy and her Mariska Hargitay knock-off find out about Jade’s undercover and tell her that she is disrupting an active investigation.
Jada doesn’t stop, though, and loses her job. She is also accosted at home by the man who hit her up for money, and he realizes that she was pretending to be Kayla. Then everyone at the bar knows Jada is trying to trick them. Kayla begs them for information, but they all withhold information.
One guy splits it and tells Jada that Kayla was drugged at a party with her ex-husband named Warren.
Jada breaks into Warren’s house and searches through his things. She is almost caught and should really leave the detective work to Ms. Jasmine Guy. She comes back with Terrell, her ex-husband, and they find a bloody mattress. (Ewww. Like, throw that thing out. Don’t just flip it over!)
Jasmine Guy lays down the law and tells Jada to stop seriously. She shares about her wife, who went missing, and understands how hard it was for her to let the police do the job.
Jada doesn’t listen and goes to talk to Warren. She confronts him and accuses him of murdering Kayla. Warren seems pretty guilty to me and pulls a knife on Jada. The police arrive and arrest Warren.
In questioning, Warren is cool as a cucumber. He tells them that they have no evidence against him. Oh, and he is a firefighter and knows his rights, legally speaking.
Then Warren goes to Jada’s house and tries to kill her, but is distracted by his daughter calling out for him. Jade punches him in the face and calls the police. They arrest Warren, and it is obvious he killed Kayla, yet there are 20 minutes left in the movie? WHAT?!?! WHY?!?!
In Prison, Warren orders a hit on Jade so she can’t testify against him. He is a dummy tho because he is loud about it, and one of the prisoners tells on him, and he is locked away forever.
Jade raises her daughter and Kayla’s daughter as her own. The end!

*** I’ve updated the rating system moving forward. Knives represent # of kills. Wine is over enjoyment (NOT a value judgment) on a 1-5 scale.
I will use the following tags for those who want to know whether to watch or skip: Pour it Up (Would Recommend) or Put A Cork In It (Would Not Recommend).
