Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A Lifetime Movie Club Exclusive Premiere! Starring Ashley Dakin. Katie and Tom are getting married. With Katie’s troubled sister in rehab, her best friend steps in as bridesmaid to plan everything. But will the wedding go as planned?

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Katie celebrates her birthday in a literal tiara as a grown-ass woman. Her assistant (or friend for the night.), Heather throws her a bash, which includes a choreographed dance w/ Katie’s real friends, Jamie and Amanda. The night seems to be going well until Katie’s recently out-of-rehab sister, Connie, sleeps with her boyfriend. The straw breaks the camel’s back, and the sisters become estranged.

Katie now flies on private jets with her handsome movie producer fiance (Tom), his best friend (Anton), and her maid of honor, Amanda. Amanda met Tom in college and introduced him to Katie. They are on a trip to Beijing to meet Tom’s family. Katie is unfamiliar with the culture and is not very impressive to Tom’s mother. Like, she hates Katie. Amanda makes things worse by telling the mother about Connie and her drug addiction. (What kind of best friend would do that!)

Amanda is an event planner and coordinating the wedding details, which are in a few days. She organizes flights and hotel details for everyone… including Connie. (Who’s phone code is 1234, which she tells Amanda so they can exchange numbers. Who does that!?)

When Katie enters her room, she gets a large bouquet with a note telling her not to get married or she will “regret it!”

Katie and her friends go to the final dress fitting. Connie is late due to a texting mixup. Katie reluctantly invites Connie to be in the wedding if she promises not to fuck it up.

When they visit the wedding venue, they are surprised to find it trashed. Connie gets violent with the venue manager and demands that he find another location. Katie is concerned that her sister isn’t well and wonders if her coming was a mistake. Katie’s friends don’t want to see her get hurt again.

After talking at the bar over virgin daiquiris to Tom (and hugging him.) Connie apologizes to her sister for creating a scene. Then they all go venue searching. (Maybe?) It is a random montage.

Heather becomes sensitive because Katie bosses her around as an assistant when she is at the wedding as a friend. Heather tells Katie that she has trust issues. It is the wrong move.

At the rehearsal dinner, Connie seems intoxicated even though she only drinks iced tea. Tom’s mother calls her out on it, and it is awkward! Tom apologizes to Connie for his mother’s comments. While they are talking, Jamie and Amanda look through Connie’s bag and find prescription pills. Amanda also shows Katie a picture of Connie and Tom hugging, which triggers the old feeling of betrayal in Katie. Katie kicks Tom out of the honeymoon suite to think things over.

Katie confronts her sister about the pills and the photo, and Connie denies everything. Connie is deeply hurt and doesn’t put up a fight at all.

Amanda and Jamie take Katie out for a girls’ night out at a gay strip club. Tom shows up and gives Katie a surprise lap dance to win her back. (Yeah, that would probably work on me too,)

Katie accidentally eats some nuts from apology candy and flowers from Tom and almost goes into anaphylactic shock. Katie ends up in the hospital and suspects that Heather might be trying to sabotage her since she didn’t show up to the girl’s night out, and they haven’t talked since the fight. Heather denies any wrongdoing and is super offended.

During a couples photo moment, Katie falls off the dock and into the water when the rail breaks. Katie can’t swim and is rescued by Heather. Katie blames Connie for loosening the railing and files a police report against her sister.

With Connie out of the way, Amanda makes her move on Tom. She tells him that she has been in love with him since college and kisses him. Tom pushes her away and storms off. Little does Amanda know that Connie filmed the whole interaction.

Instead of going to her sister, Connie confronts Amanda alone in her hotel room. Connie shows Amanda the footage before trying to leave. Amanda starts trashing the room and screaming for help. Then she cuts herself with a bottle and claims Connie stabbed her. Hotel security takes Connie into custody.

Katie decides to listen to her sister this time and looks at the photo backups on Connie’s iPad in her hotel room. The video of Amanda kissing Tom is on it, and Katie knows who the real enemy. Katie apologizes to Heather and asks for a favor as a friend. (Take the iPad to the police.

While alone in the bride’s suite, Katie makes a terrible decision and tells Amanda that she knows everything. Then Amanda sets the room on fire and traps Katie inside. (Lot of CGI fire here, it is iconic. They really went for it!)

Connie kicks the door down and pulls her sister out of the room just in time. The wedding dress is fine. Tom hugs his bride in the parking, and the sweet moment is ruined by Amanda, who tackles Katie and strangles her in front of everyone while screaming, “You don’t deserve him!”

Amanda is arrested and put in the back of the cop car. Katie asks Amanda why, and Amanda tells her that she has been in love with Tom since she met him. Katie thought they were buddies.

One month later, the wedding finally happens. Mama Tom is onboard and apologizes for being rude. Connie is the new maid of honor and promises to stand by her sister, and Katie reciprocates in a touching, well-acted exchange. It’s the real vows we’ve been waiting for! Yay, Sisters!

  1. Betrayed by my bridesmaids is probably one of the worst movies I’ve seen from lifetime in a long time and I love lifetime movies. The actors/actresses were so bad lol The grooms best friend/best man was one of the worst actors I’ve ever seen lol they should have picked a different person for that role. Also the bride was pretty bad too. It was a really bad movie. When it’s a good movie, you forget you’re watching a movie. This one was like watching a homemade play lol I don’t recommend it. But everyone had their own opinions. But it SUCKED!!
