When estranged siblings, Lindsay and Brad Morgan travel to Scotland at Christmas to reunite with their mother Jo, a big family secret is revealed. Starring Lacey Chabert and Scott Wolf.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Brad and Lacey Chabert both arrive in Scotland for a family Christmas. They are siblings and seem to have a distant relationship. Brad travels with his wife, Sarah, who gets along better with Lacey Chabert better than he does.

A goofy Scottish guy welcomes everyone to a Glencave castle, gives them a tour, and talks about the history of Christmas in Scotland. (It’s like I’m forced to be in a museum.) Their mother, who has a non-descript accent, welcomes her children and introduces them to the house’s butler. She has something urgent to talk to them about.

Lacey Chabert and Brad aren’t looking forward to the Christmas traditions and agree to go along with their mother’s plans and put their differences aside. Lacey Chabert goes outside to get better cell service and meets a handsome groundskeeper named Mac. IDK what he is saying, but he is beautiful.

The castle has rules, and no one is supposed to go past the fourth floor. Brad and Lacey Chabert snoop around. They find their mom’s room and a scrapbook. SHE IS A DUTCHESS?!?!!?
A flashback shows us that their mother ran off with an American to California to be a singer. She turned her back on her birthright and just wanted to be normal. (Like Prince Harry and Megan!) They stand to inherit the castle and will become a Duke and Duchess. The siblings feel lied to, and they argue about how they have never felt close.

Mac Bell, the groundskeeper, takes Lacey Chabert on a horse ride, and they cut down a Christmas tree. He asks her to stay to learn about the Scottish traditions. (I care more about this plot than the family mystery, so yes!) Later, Mac injures himself, and Lacey Chabert takes him to the town doctor. The doctor tells them that she is short-staffed, which is interesting because Lacey Chabert is a doctor! They walk through the town and do a whiskey tasting.

Brad and Lacey Chabert learn more and more about what their new life could look like. They are impressed with the history and beauty of the castle and its grounds. They go back and forth about what to do, and Lacey Chabert asks him to talk to his wife because she is seriously considering staying. Brad is cautious because he and Sarah have been having trouble conceiving a baby, and the relationship is strained.

At the local pub, there is a Scottish dance contest, and Lacey Chabert wins! Everyone has a blast. Mac walks her home, and they share a little kiss. She tries to talk about it the next day, but Mac justs laughs it off a Christmas magic.

They aren’t the only ones falling in love. Brad and Sarah feel that they want to keep trying to have kids and even stay. Sarah bakes in the kitchen with the Dutchess and really feels at home.

The timeline for a decision gets bumped up, and Lacey Chabert suggests Mac could be the estate manager. Brad wants to stay, and that pisses Lacey Chabert off because she feels like he made the decision without consulting her. Their mother takes Lacey Chabert to a graveyard to show her the family lineage. The mom has regrets about leaving her family and asks her daughter to not repeat her mistakes.

Lacey Chabert really is set to leave for California. Before she goes, she promises her brother that she will visit often. Mac is sad to see her go and gives her a family crest. On her way out the house staff send her off. Lacey Chabert tells Brad she loves him, and they have repaired the sibling bond. They put her in the car like she is in The Bachelorette.
In the car Lacey Chabert reads a note and asks the car to turn around. (It’s like 30 seconds left in the movie.) She tells everyone she is staying and will date Mac!

One year later, Sarah and Brad have an heir and matching PJs. They take a family photo! The end!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
Wow, the bagpipe is annoying!
The sibling hatred didn’t make sense to me and that whole relationship just didn’t payoff.
