Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Old flames and unfinished business converge at Claire’s college reunion. When her ex-lover Victor is found dead, she seeks out the real killer among familiar faces. Stars Brittney Q. Hill, Carrie Schroeder, Britton Webb and Wendy Wynne (2023).

Recap/Wine Thoughts.

The movie starts with an altercation between two hunks. James tells the beaded one, Vic, who looks like a cult leader, to stay away from his wife, Claire. They get into a front yardbrawl, but a nosey neighbor breaks it up.

Whatever cult he is leading, I’m in!

Cut to a DIFFERENT hunk running in the woods. He stops to check his pulse, but someone pushes him from behind, and he tumbles down a hill. (DEAD?) His name is Ethan, and he works with James at the hospital. He is in bad shape, but James might miss Claire’s reunion.

Claire is upset that her husband might not attend the college reunion, but she wants James to meet the man her daughter is dating. His name is Simon, and he has no aspirations. Iris tells Simon that her parents separated for a while, and Claire dated Victor. When her parents got back together, things got tense. Iris worried about her parents going to the reunion where all three of them will be.

Iris is really in her mother’s business

Claire and her best friend Gina drive down to college. They are staying at a McMansion with a select few college friends. Morgan and Whitney sneak away with Claire to get the gossip. Morgan doesn’t drink anymore and has had a rough 20 years. She is cagey with the details. Victor shows up and sours the mood. (It is going to be a long weekend!)

Victor follows Claire to her room and does his whole culty staring thing at her. He complements her outfit and asks her is she thinks about them together. Claire tries to set a boundary, but he almost kisses her, and Whitney walks in on the moment. Whitney seems to like to drink and stir up drama. (She should be on Real Housewives.)

This dress tho!

Before bed, Claire looks out her window and sees Whitney waiting by the pool. Claire can’t sleep and gets up at 2 am to make tea. She drops her phone and finds Victor stabbed in the garage. James rushes from the hospital to comfort his wife and has a solid alibi.

Not the weekend she had planned!

Everyone is asked to stay in town while detectives investigate the following day. Whitney accuses Claire from the get-go, publically. Gina works with Victor and stands to inherit the business, so that is sus too!

Gina finds an iPad at work that is synced to his cellphone and sees some interesting, sexy text messages talking about hooking up at the reunion. Later, Gina finds company money written out to cash and a gold pendant. She calls Claire to share the info.

These messages don’t ever really get explained

Claire meets with Morgan and runs into Whitney outside of the cafe. Whitney is VERY vocal about accusing Claire, which is just rude.

At the meet-up with Morgan, she talks about a 20-year off-and-on abusive relationship that derailed her life. When Claire tries to grab Morgan’s hand for comfort, Morgan flinches, claiming she hurt her wrist by falling in the bathroom. Morgan goes home and has an array of pain pills all over the house. After getting her fix, she invites Claire to dinner.

On her way to dinner, Claire is attacked by a SNAKE IS HER CAR?!?!?! WTF?!?!? She freaks and runs her car off the road. Claire calls her daughter since her husband is out of town again for work. Iris thinks it was intentional and worried that someone is after her mother. Next, Claire calls Morgan and tells her she won’t make it to dinner. Morgan thinks it could be a sign that they shouldn’t be friends.

Yup, I would crash my car too, actually, I’d jump out of it while moving.

Next, Claire talks to Whitney and catches her having an affair with a married man. Whitney still accuses Claire of Victor’s murder. She sucks!

Gina and Claire break into Victor’s home to look for more evidence. Claire has sexy flashbacks of Victor in his Calvin Klines and remembers a book he used to read to her. Inside the book are pictures of Claire in her underwear! They call detectives, who they probably should have just let handle it in the first place. The detective tells Claire that her husband and Victor got into an altercation. James is a suspect.

James seems more suspicious after James’ hotel and medical conference prove fake. Claire is surprised when she comes home and finds James there. He blames the accident, but Claire doesn’t believe him. James comes clean and admits to the front yard fight. He apologizes for breaking her trust and says it is the only secret he has kept from her.

James being confused the whole movie

Gina calls with more info and thinks that Victor is the one who pushed Ethan down during his jog in the woods. Ethan promises to look into the security footage and work together to figure things out.

This is the look of a troubled man

Her parents’ fighting stresses Iris out, and she spends more time with her boyfriend, Simon. She vents about her family and jokes that she hopes his family isn’t as messed up as her. By the look on his face, it seems like it is! The teens watch scary movies, and Iris borrows a sweater from his closet. She finds more than she bargains for after knocking over some papers and learning he lied about going to college.

To be fair, he is hot in this photo!

Morgan meets up with Claire again and cries while drinking wine. She talks about her relationship and how he hid her like a shameful secret. Morgan finally admits that her lover was Victor, and they have a son together. SIMON!

I really liked this shot!

Simon killed his father because he hated the way Victor treated his mother. Claire texts Iris and tries to warn her, but Simon grabs the phone and reads her texts. Then he grabs a knife from the kitchen.

Morgan and Claire rush to save Iris. Claire tries to reason with Simon, but he isn’t hearing it. Morgan promises to get Simon’s help and begs him to let Iris go. Simon tells them that Victor was abusive and never even wanted him, yet for some reason, he wanted Claire.

James rushes in to save the day, and Simon stabs him. Morgan knocks her son out with a bottle of wine to stop him from hurting anyone further. Claire and Morgan are bonded forever now.

Claire loves the family she has and is thankful for that.

The End!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

This is one that I’m like, I should have seen that twist coming! But it totally didn’t.
