Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When Michelle Clark hires young Melissa Juneau as her new live-in nanny, she has no idea the grave danger that she has put her family in. Not only has Melissa had an affair with her husband, but she is also under the cruel control of Carlton Clark, Michelle’s greedy brother in law. Carlton has his heart set on Michelle as well as the Clark’s family fortune and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. Starring Kyana Teresa, Kirsten Comerford, and Matt Wells (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie starts with a woman taking a night jog and getting shoved off the path to her death. No wait! She survived, her name is Charlotte, and she isn’t giving main character energy, so we meet Michelle! Charlotte is her nanny and she doesn’t know what they will do without her.

Poor Nanny!!!!

The man who pushed Nanny Charlotte is NOT Michelle’s husband, Will, but I had to go back and check cause they kind of look the same. With his boss, Will has some issues at work and sets up a client dinner meeting with Gabe. When Gabe cancels at the last minute, Will has a drink at the bar. (The bartender seems shady!) So does a mysterious blonde who starts timidly flirting with Will. Her name is Melissa, and she doesn’t take no for an answer. They make out while someone takes photos of them in an ally.

I liked this shot

Michelle is an event planner and hosts an event for Will’s father. Michelle is swamped with events and happens to meet a nanny in need at the playground. It is MELISSA! Michelle checks her references and moves the nanny in. (Luckily for Melissa, Will happens to be out of town for work when she starts.)

I’m like, what’s her angle?

Melissa finally has to reveal herself to Will; his face says it all. He tells her to move out. He can’t have her breaking up his marriage. Melissa tells him she needs the money and will do whatever he needs to stay. He gives her two weeks.

“Uhhhh, hey!”

We learn through a flashback that Melissa is in financial trouble taking care of her mother and is doing a “small favor” for the guy who tried to kill the nanny. (I think it is the guy!?!?)

Speaking of that guy, he sneaks into a retirement center, takes pictures of Melissa’s mother, and moves her glasses. (Which IS really cruel! Especially if you are blind like me!) It is a weird scene, but anything with this man is strange. He shows up at one of Michelle’s events and is UNCLE CARLTON. (Will’s less successful brother. Carlton feels shafted out of the family business.)

Whoever cast these guys as brothers deserves a Casting Oscar!

Carlton wants Melissa to make copies of the house key and uses her mother’s care as an incentive. That, of course, isn’t enough, and he tells Melissa to stay on as the nanny for a few more days. Then Uncle Carlton breaks into his father’s house and tampers with his medication. The father catches his son meddling and tells him that he is a subpar son. Carlson screams about Will sleeping with the nanny, and the stress causes the father to have a heart attack and dies.

I loved how he was so surprised his dad died when he was there to kill him.

Melissa is far too upset, and Michelle is concerned. The two spend a lot of time together, and Melissa asks about the family dynamic with Uncle Carlton. (She also looks through old photo albums.) Melissa even opens up about her mother and her failing health.

A nurse learns that Carlton has tampered with security cameras and is monitoring the seniors. Carlton kills her in the parking lot. (Off camera.) and threatens Melissa that he will do the same to her and her mother if she doesn’t cooperate. Melissa tries to go to the police station, but Carlton has a tracker in her car.

Carlton is up to no good and is ready to release the information and pictures he has about his brother to Michelle. He tells her and passes on the photos. It doesn’t look great! Michelle is upset and rushes off and fires Melissa just as she almost tells Will all about his brother’s corruption. Michelle kicks Will out of the house too.

I would have done the same thing! Bye!

Melissa goes to Carlton and tells her she has almost paid off her debt to him. He is happy that his brother and Michelle are separating because he has been in love with her the whole time. He has one more request. He wants the key to the country house and sends Melissa to retrieve it.

At Michelle’s house, Melissa comes clean about everything that Carlton is doing and that it is for her mother’s health care. Michelle is suspicious at first and blames Melissa. Then she suggests going to the police. After that plan doesn’t work, they devise a plan to stop Carlton once and for all.

They go to the cabin where Will is staying, and Carlton admits to everything he has planned and the people he killed. He tells Will that he will make it look like he died of suicide and plans to take care of Michelle and his daughter.

Michelle pops out just as Carlton is about to kill Melissa and Will. She tells him that she is flattered by all his planning and that they can finally be together. She is wearing a wire, and the police storm in.

He loves her, but she is the first to go when the police show up!

Carlton isn’t going out like that and grabs his knife and holds Michelle hostage. She steps on his foot like a kid on the playground and gets away. The police arrest Carlton, and it seems like everything is wrapped up with the confession and everything.

Melissa and Michelle hug it out. The brothers do not!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

These houses in the LMN movie are sometimes so sleek!

The title of this movie should have been something about brothers, TBH!

I was surprised that Nanny Charlotte came back to work in the end. I hope she got a raise!

  1. I Lucy (the daughter) supposed to be their biological child? Because there is no way IN HELL that she’s mixed-race!

  2. Just once I would love to see the main characters living in a normal, average house. Instead, they ALWAYS live in mansions that are always neat, tidy and usually decorated nicely. Its ridiculous. Im not saying they should live in a shack or something but come on, its stupid that they ALWAYS live so well. But as we all know LMN movies are nothing if not predictable and consistent with the same basic outline of a script everytime
