Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Emma slowly gets her memories back from a suspicious night which put her in an amnesia-like state. She recuperates from the trauma with the help of her husband, Dr. Dean Johnson, who’s been more than helpful in making her feel comfortable again, but Emma remains in danger as she returns to a life she doesn’t remember. Stars Morgan Bradley, Gabriel Pranter, and Tryphena Wade (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Emma runs through the streets at night screaming for help. Then a car hits her. She suffers extreme head trauma. Emma wakes up in the hospital without remembering what happened or who she is. She, understandably, starts to panic at the news.

Then, her husband, Dean, shows up. He takes it personally that Emma doesn’t remember him. He is a psychologist but seems pretty unfamiliar with how amnesia works. Dean wants to get his “wife” out of the hospital and back to a vacation home up north. Doctors warn him about isolating Emma because she must be around family and friends to regain normalcy.

Emma can’t shake the feeling that she was being chased the night of her accident and experiences a general unease. The vacation home is unfamiliar, and the photos of her with her husband and parents don’t trigger any memories.

A detective shows up at the house to question Emma about the night of the hit and run. Dean is by Emma’s side during questioning and coaches his wife on her answers. The Detective asks Dean his whereabouts, and he claims to have been playing poker at a friend’s house. Later, the Detective visits his office and runs into a beautiful patient who says he is a good therapist. Very calm and gentle. Dr. Dean hasn’t been showing up for appointments.

They leave the house to get Emma a new phone and some oat milk lattes. A woman on the street looks at Emma funny, and Emma asks Dean if they know her. He laughs it off.

Some of Dean and Emma’s “friends” stop by and cooperate with his alibi about the poker game. The girlfriend, Chloe/Holly, is actually a prostitute hired to play along, and she has moral conundrums about the whole thing.

Emma becomes frustrated that her memory is not returning. Dean shows her a painting she painted and insists she stays with him in the house. Emma asks if they can go to lunch, and he reluctantly agrees. They eat in a public restaurant, and Emma doesn’t even remember what she likes to eat. As they leave, a bartender named Ryan recognizes Emma and wants to catch up. Dean rushes them out of there rudely.

In the evening, Dean gives Emma sleeping pills, but she is still haunted by dreams of someone chasing her.

While Emma sleeps, Dean goes back to the restaurant and stabs Bartender Ryan in the parking lot.

Emma goes into town alone. She sees the woman she saw the other day at a restaurant. The woman is working as a waitress. The waitress tells Emma she was surprised to see Emma and Dean together. A few weeks ago, Emma got into a public argument with Dean. She called him a “stalker.”

New video footage from a cellphone bystander shows a man in the crowd who is identified as Dean, Emma’s husband. The Detective just wrecked his alibi.

Emma relaxes in the sauna and tries to de-stress. Dean goes into town and meets with Terrence. Terrence is now blackmailing Dean for more money. He does this to keep the fake friendship going.

Chloe/Holly visits Emma and is worried when Emma tells her “friend” that she thinks she is not and has never been in love with Dean. Chloe/Holly feels bad and rushes out of there. Emma, wanting to reconnect with friends, calls some contacts on her phone and is surprised to learn they are disconnected. She calls the restaurant where Ryan works to see what he knows and finds out about the murder.

Speaking of murder, when Terrence tries to extort more money out of Dean, he is stabbed in a parking lot, too!

A patient shows up at the house upstate looking for Doctor Johnson. He doesn’t recognize Dean and wants to talk to the REAL Doctor Johnson. The real Doctor Johnson is stuffed in a closet at Dean’s home. (The real Dean.) The Detective finds the body and uncovers the truth. Emma is married to Dean, but a paitent named Chris killed Dean to get to Emma and impersonated her husband when he found out Emma didn’t remember anything.

Emma puts things together, too, and fights to escape. Chris ties her up to a chair and tries to tell Emma they are meant to be together. The Detective breaks into the house and tries to help Emma escape. She hits Chris with a golf club and unties Emma.

Emma makes a run for it and grabs a shovel. She makes her move and knocks Christ out.

Three months later, Emma’s memory is back, and moving out to start a new life. She thanked the detective and said she was ready for a clean slate.

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

This is a standard plot in TV movies. I felt that he information in a satisfying way.
