Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When a gifted prep school art student vanishes, her devoted teacher discovers a sketchbook filled with haunting drawings of a girl who soon arrives at the school as a new student, claiming the disappearance was no accident.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie begins in an abandoned house, where a woman named Lilly wanders around with a flashlight. She finds a poorly photoshopped picture and a yearbook. Before she can leave, someone pushes her down the stairs.

Cut to a prep school, where artistic loner, Elise, is rightfully upset at her boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend. Even worse, they have been cast in the school play as Romeo and Juliet. (But their actual names are Joey and Kaylee.)

Daddy

Donovan, the school principal, talks to the art teacher that her days are numbered at the school. She is a recovering alcoholic after something happened with Donovan’s wife, Helen. (Who was also Lily’s sister.) They worry about Elise, whose art has taken a dark turn since her mother died.

Elise runs away from home to live with her aunt, and for some reason, Aunt Lily is spiraling. She almost pours herself a bottle of wine, and then later drinks a whole bottle of vodka. The strange thing is, she does this while Elise is sleeping on the couch and after she tells her niece about a secret baby her mother had as a teen.

Rough Night!

The next morning, Lily wakes up, and Elise is gone. There is a note that says don’t look for me, and all of Elise’s stuff is gone. The girls gossip at school. Donovan asks Kaylee what she knows, but she says all she knows is that she should have stayed away from Donovan.

They look through surveillance cameras on campus and see someone lurking around. They also find a prescription for Codean.

Nice guy!

Brian, Lily’s sponsor, comes by to take her AA chip away and ends up getting some evidence stolen from his car. He is very random, but hot.

Everyone in this movie had terrible hair

A new student named Wren shows up on campus, and Lily thinks she looks familiar, like her sister? Could Wren be Helen’s long-lost daughter and Elise’s half sister? Probably! Wren is pretending to be a student and made friends with Elise on an app. They planned to meet up and run away, but Elise never showed up. Lily joins Wren to track Elise’s phone, and they find some of the teen’s belongings in a creek. It is a backpack with clippings of newspapers about people falling down the stairs.

They go back to campus and do a bunch of AI research, and it is totally boring. Donovan follows them, but eventually goes to his room to play records and drink whiskey.

BRIAN?!!? WHY?!?!?

Wren poisons Donovan’s drink and paralyzes him. Sneaks out and stabs Brain in an Alley and frames Donovan for the murder. Wren has gone from a girl I hardly knew to a psycho killer working with Joey and holding Elise in a mill or something.

Couldn’t she at least take off his turtle neck?

Wren puts Donovan in a bathtub and turns on the water, leaving him to drown. Wren next goes to the theater and practices Shakespeare with Joey. Lily finds Donovan and saves him from the bathtub.

Oh Romeo!

Joey is confused; he just wanted to be Romeo. Kaylee calls Joey to warn him, but he is her next victim. Then she syringes Kaylee, too. Romeo and Juliet meet their demise.

Oh, hey, leave my niece alone… I guess.

Lily rushes to the mill to save her niece. She is SOOOOOO low-key about it. The stakes couldn’t be lower. Wren shows up with a 2×4 as her weapon of choice and goes into her villain monologue. Wren is a young-looking nurse who pretended to be a student to get close to Donovan and tried to kill him. Lily saves Elise, and they rush out of the mill, but Wren stops them both.

Wren is excited to tell them that they are related and she is their long-lost relative. Donovan slept with a student, Elise’s mother, and got her pregnant. He convinced her to give up the baby. Wren also killed their mother when Helen didn’t take their long-lost daughter in. They eventually stop Wren from blabbering on and on. Everyone is saved, well, except for Brian. He dead.

Is this good art? Please let me know in the chat

Elise doesn’t forgive her father and focuses on her art instead. Good for her, I guess!

STRAY Thoughts

This music was so soothing that it was putting me to sleep.

Not only was this movie predictable, but it was also no fun.
