In A Very Merry Beauty Salon, Sienna (Tia Mowry), the owner of the bustling Divine Beauty Salon is preparing for Atlanta’s Tinsel Ball, where she will be honored for her charitable work in the community. The annual event takes a glamourous turn with the arrival of Lawrence, a charismatic CEO whose family’s wine brand is now co-sponsoring the Ball. Sparks fly between them, but Sienna’s mother Georgia (Donna Biscoe) who is the head of the Ball’s committee, worries his involvement may ruin the event’s traditions. As Sienna and Lawrence are unexpectedly paired as dance partners, romance blooms, setting the stage for a steamy romance that challenges Sienna’s thoughts on love and family and makes this year’s Tinsel Ball the most memorable yet.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Tia Mowry is back on Lifetime, THANK GOD!
She goes through her morning beauty routine, as do the other ladies working in the beauty salon. There is a Tinsle Ball in town that everyone is buzzing about and making their appointment at Divine Beauty. Miss Kimmy seems to be the most honest part of the group, and Ella is the new girl. Tia’s mother, Georgia, can’t accept that her daughter doesn’t have a date for the ball. She sets her up on a date with her neighbor’s son. Tia reminds her mother about boundaries but agrees to meet the blind date.
A handsome man named Lawrence stops by the salon. He is opening a tasting room and introducing himself and shamelessly flatters Tia. Georgia isn’t a fan and doesn’t like his new ideas for the ball. They argue over catering, decor, and every minor detail.
Tia has a Gay BFF named Kyle. He wants to help her prepare for the ball. He also plans to teach her some moves. (I love that for her and their relationship.)
Lawrence runs into Tia at a vegan diner. They talk about owning Black businesses in a thriving city like Atlanta. He invites her to try his holiday wines, and she turns him down but then shows up randomly another night. His wine store is lovely and festive. Lawrence takes Tia through a wine tasting. She is impressed by his knowledge. She is also impressed by his passion for running his business. Tia is inspired to start her own hair care line by him.
Kyle and Tia practice their dance for the ball. Kyle fakes an injury. He does this to get Lawrence to fill in for him. They, naturally, dance beautifully together. (Was Tia on Dancing with the Stars? I feel like she’d kill it!) Tia later adds him on social media.
Ella’s boyfriend isn’t coming home for Christmas because he is stationed abroad on tour. Ella cries to Tia, who encourages her friend. Miss Kimmy walks in on the dramatic moment. She says that she can’t even consider dating. She lost her husband. She has “‘seen the show Catfish!” (Hahaha!)
Tia and Lawrence go out to dinner, and we basically see a real-time date. Tia opens up about her divorce. He mentions that dating has become more challenging as they have gotten older. Then the conversation goes back to their business and, of course, the ball.
Montage of counting down to the Tinsel Ball. We see Tia and Lawrence dancing and eating a lot. They make out and decide they are a good couple. Tia is worried things are too good to be true and vents to her co-workers. They come up with a plan to bake him a pie so good he will have to date her. Tia brings the pie to Lawrence. She hears him tell his dad, “Tia is not going to be a distraction.” She is VERY OFFENDED! The budding relationship is off.
It is the day of the ball, and the salon is VERY busy!
At the ball, Tia shows up, and she looks amazing. Noah shows up, and everyone is surprised! Ella kisses him as everyone applauds them. Then Lawrence shows up.
It is time for the big dance and Lawrence and Tia dance. They are feeling one another and make out. The end.
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
I think this is the last of the three contracted Tia Mowry Christmas movies. I hope she gets another contract for more $$$ and more films. She is very good in this space.
