Thoughts
A Christmas extravagant party happens. Gladys Knight is celebrating her anniversary with her second husband, James. Their son Amir is a very eligible bachelor. Guest include a boy crazy Randi, who is obsessed over Amir, habitually divorcee Auntie Jacki, couple Imani and Jarvis, and work-obsessed Kyla. Amir gives Kyla a ride home, and they share a romantic kiss. They spend Christmas dinner together. This relationship is moving a little fast, amiright? Randi sings silent night and lord help us all, why isn’t LeToya singing? She was in Destiny’s Child.
A new year’s party happens. Method Man shows up as a music producer and speaks in only rhymes. “I bet she’ll do something strange for some change.” Then we hear a funky version of “Ol Lang Syne.” Kyla’s ex-boyfriend Miles shows up, and she tells him to step off. Then James has a heart attack and dies. A montage happens with all the scenes we just watched with James in them as Gladys Knight cries.
Spring. Amir inherits the bar/club. Hre starts hosting parties, and Gladys Knight feels James’s spirit. Method man continues to hang with Randi and Amir and Kyla date. Amir becomes suspicious of Miles and questions Kyla about it. Kyla brushes off the question and buys Amir a framed photo of him and his father as an apology. They move in together.
Meanwhile, Method Man is trying to put the moves on Imani, even though she is married. Her friend Tweety is helping him seduce Imani and is getting paid. So, she is a pimp and a terrible friend. She flat out tells him “no,” but he will not let up. Gross, dude. Leave Imani alone.
Amir works out shirtless. Thank you, movie. I missed it because I was so distracted.
Autumn happens, and Method Man gives Imani a check. She realizes her friend Tweety is trying to pimp her out and call her all sorts of names. “Trifling Ho, Trick, Bitch.” It is great. Tweety goes off to Method Man, and he pays her to give him a blowjob… what is happening. What is this movie?
Miles apologizes to Kyla for how he treated her, and Amir catches them in a compromising situation. He screams at her and storms off. Kyla asks Miles to leave her and ever come back. He sulks away, dejected.
Kyla finds Amir and comes clean. She and Miles dated in college and got pregnant. Kyla had complications and is no longer able to have children. She tells Amir that maybe they started the relationship too fast and wants to take some time apart.
Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn happen via montage. Imani has a baby, Method Man is still a womanizer, and Amir misses Kyla.
Gladys Knight talks some sense into Amir and tells him that his parent’s relationship wasn’t perfect. He goes to Kyla’s apartment, but she has left for Paris.
Tweety apologizes to Imani, and she accepts her apology?!?!?!?
Winter. Kyla is back in town and attends the club for a Christmas Eve party. Imani and Jarvis have a baby boy and run a gym now. Amir and Kyla are reunited, but the audio is cut out because whatever song is playing is very copyrighted. She kisses him on the cheek and asks what he is going New Years and then saunters off. THE END?
Side Note
Minority Report: Leading and Supporting roles featured mostly black or POC actors.
This movie had a lot of licensed music in it, which is why it probably not available to stream anywhere. I watched a terrible, low-quality youtube video.
