Happy Christmas in July! I’m revisiting a series of reviews that were originally posted on social media and are now archived here on the blog.
Happy Holidays! I will be watching and “reviewing” 25 TV Christmas Movies, for the 25 days till Christmas! (Mostly Hallmark and a few other channels, but all will be 2016 releases.)
I’m watching them, so you don’t have to! If you have seen them, please share your thoughts and comments. I love/hate these movie, please join me this holiday season!
Starring: Jill Wagner and Wes Brown…… WHO?!?
Aunt Sally’s Christmas Cookie Company is sold to a large conglomerate and executive Hannah (Wagner) must seal the deal and shut down the factory, which is the small town of Cookie Jar’s lifeblood. What was supposed to be a simple assignment for Hannah becomes complicated when she meets Jake (Brown), the factory owner who’s determined to keep the factory in town. Despite not being a fan of the holiday, the Christmas spirit in this small town is infectious and she gets swept up in the joy of the season while also falling in love.
Hannah is sent from the big city to Cookie Jar. (That is the towns name!) The food company she works for has acquired a cookie factory and must relocate operations to the city. There is a small glitch when she begins to fall for the cookie factory owner, Jake, and the town of Cookie Jar itself.
Jill Wagner does her best to bring some (southern?) charm to her role, over all though she just fake laughs and touches her hair a lot. Her chemistry with Jake (also southern?) is soooo forced. I’d love to see these actors behind the scenes.
Jake lures Hannah with his cute niece Bonnie (who is actually, too cute! Cubby cheeks and lisping her way into the hearts of no one.) They sled and build gingerbread houses, it’s Christmas love! Then Hannah’s boyfriend shows up and proposes. Jake is left to question Hannah’s motives, did she trick him just to land the deal?
Hannah ditches the boyfriend and goes on to do a rousing speech to the town of Cookie Jar. Something with a recipe metaphor, and lots of baking puns. The speech is so inspiring, her boss rips up the contract and takes a big bite out of a Santa cookie. (Because that is how business things work!)
Usually these guys in love triangles are evenly matched in the looks department but Jake is WAY hotter than city boyfriend.
This cookie factory has got nothing on my favorite “cookie factory,” Frank’s Pastries and the town of Cookie Jar isn’t as cute as Chester!
Hannah’s sister is REALLY annoying.
