Synopsis (via Hallmark)

At Christmas, a cheerful publicist teams up with a cynical VP and his eclectic team to help a charity in need.

Thoughts

Candace Cameron Bure plays Darcy. Who is a single dog (Bobo) owner who LOVES Christmas! At her PR’s holiday party, she is sad to learn she didn’t land a big award. Her family helps her pick up the pieces after she feels let down. In particular, Darcy’s brothers go out of their way to cheer up their sister, which is cute. They encourage her not to give up, and Darcy looks into Glenn, a big-time executive from AI. She lands a trial run for a huge job in NYC.

Darcy leaves for the airport and will miss her family and home while she is away. A storm diverts her flight, and she unknowingly runs into Glenn at the airport bar and talks about him to his face, calling him. a curmudgeon.

I have no idea what is happening. Like none. We’re an hour in. Darcy and Glenn visit a charity, and Darcy pitches ideas to… boost donations? Somehow The Wizard of Oz is being paid tribute to as well? They’ve just mentioned Emerald, Kansas, referenced characters via people names “Jackie CROW, Bridget TINsley, Riley LIONS,” and renamed Toto to Bobo. I think Victor Fleming would be unimpressed.

Okay, there has been a development. Darcy’s mother passed away, and her father remarried to a woman named Emma. Darcy values family more than anything, except this job.

Darcy and Riley lion dance together and might be putting on a big show for charity? (A reference to “King of the Forest.”) Glenn argues with his boss Winona about the vision for whatever is happening. Darcy and Glenn have some wine, and he opens up about being adopted and not having family traditions.

More homages to The Wizard of Oz happen. A lobby has a “yellow brick road” in it, an assistant talks about flying monkeys, and Glenn is also William the CEO, so he is kind of like the Wizard. (Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.) If this recap seems like a psychotic Where’s Waldo for Wizard of Oz nods, that is because it is all I am doing now.

Darcy performs for the school charity, which is nice. She receives a pair of red “dance shoes.” Then she dances the routine she has been practicing with Riley. If Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp didn’t do a dance movie RIGHT before this one, I would have been impressed.

Glenn/William admits to being the same person. He lied because he was tired of trying to shield himself, and he opened himself up to Darcy. He even offers her a job. She is too hurt to accept the job and rushes back home to her family. They support her and love her. What more could you ask for. Glenn/William follows her to Kansas and apologizes. He is trusted into family Christmas. Then they kiss. The end!
