Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie starts with someone falling down the stairs to their death. (So we know we are watching a Lifetime movie at least.)

Cut to a family moving to Bellhaven Cliffs in a beautiful colonial. Gale and Rick show their teenage daughter, Chloe, around. She is unimpressed and more worried about making new friends.

Gale drops her daughter off at school and makes a new friend instead of her daughter. Vanessa is the president of the PTA, which is a HUGE deal at this school. It seems like someone named Lexi died recently, and Vanessa replaced her.

Vanessa invites Gale over for a secret girl’s night; that might be a roaring 20s theme. (With a male stripper! Who is actually hot this time!) Gale gets lost on the way to the bathroom and opens the wrong door. It is to the staircase. Vanessa is recently widowed. (She also seems very concerned about men cheating on her.) Gale, of course tells her husband about the party.

Chloe makes friends with some teens at the mall. They are very superficial and obsessed with social media. (As most teens are.) They steal stuff from stores without Chloe knowing. Chloe is a good girl.

The PTA mom’s all gossip and start filling Gale in on the tea. Sunny tells Gale that Vanessa’s husband was sleeping with Lexi, and they are both conveniently dead. No one seems to suspect Vanessa. Someone vandalizes Sunny’s car, and she warns Gale not to get on Vanessa’s bad side.

A Halloween contest seems to throw Vanessa and Gale’s relationship out of wack. Vanessa’s Maleficent loses out to Gale’s Marie Antoniette. Vanessa has won every year. Vanessa gets revenge by trapping Rick in a dressing room and making it look like they hooked up. The store clerk, Sissy, tips Gale off and starts to raise Gale’s suspicion.

Gale and Rick argue about the dressing room and male stripper. Vanessa is successfully ruining their relationship by doing very little. I think Gale and Rick had issues before because they were quick to have Rick sleeping on the couch.

Chloe becomes a weird, outcast new girl after getting into a fight with Vanessa’s daughter Serena.

Gale does some online research and learns that Vanessa’s husband hell down the stairs and infers that he could have been pushed. Gale starts asking the other PTA moms about Lexi, and Dinah admits to giving Lexi sleeping pills the night she died.

Vanessa hears Gale snooping around and starts leaving bad reviews on Gale’s baking business’s website after poisoning a batch of cookies for a baby shower.

Gale isn’t going down like that and shows up at a PTA massage party. She uses the opportunity to sneak around the house. She runs into Vanessa on the stairwell. They don’t get into it there.

Vanessa lures Gale to the school, and THAT is where they get into it. Rick rushes to save his wife from the psycho PTA Mom with a confused Chloe in the car. Vanessa chases Gale with a PTA gavel but goes careening off of a ledge.

A few months later, a new PTA president is selected, and everyone moves on! The end.

Side Note

Minority Report: Sunny, Dinah, Darren,

The amount of shirtless Jonathan Stoddard WAS appreciated.
