Synopsis (via CBS)
The holiday tale of Audrey (Kloots), an enthusiastic Christmas-obsessed fitness instructor teaching classes at her beloved, financially beleaguered community center in quaint Mistletoe, Montana, who begins a holiday romance with a charming, mysterious businessman (Greene), complicating his plans to turn the center into a more financially profitable resort property.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Audrey is happy to be in her hometown of Mistletoe and teaches a workout aerobics class. She is an NYC fitness influencer whose gym is closing, and she is going through a breakup with her boyfriend, Bradly. (He asked for a break because they were working in the gym together.)
Things aren’t that much better at home. The town rec center is closing. It was a staple in the community, but her dad had to sell it for money. Audrey bumps into a handsome Scrooge of a man named Griffin. He calls the Christmas decorations Audrey is carrying “trash,” and the two do not hit it off.
Lisa, Audrey’s BFF runs the cafe in the rec center. She greets Audrey on her way into the rec center for a private lesson. The lesson turns out to be for Griffin. He is unimpressed with her Christmas music dance routine but works up a sweat.
They run into each other at a town meeting, and Audrey realizes that Griffin is in town as a representative for the resort that has bought up the land. Griffin makes a presentation to win over the townspeople.
In another aerobics class, Griffin tries to charm everyone while passively aggressively arguing with Audrey in a workout class. His dad calls in to see if his son has landed the deal, but the town has to vote on whether or not they want to resort.
Christmas Trivia happens. Audrey and Griffin run into one another again, and this time he spills a pitcher of beer all over them. They hate each other and answer questions competitively.
There is a Christmas Wreath ring toss, and Griffin bets on a date to reintroduce himself to her. They toss and are both pretty bad. Griffin wins and gets his date, where they talk about Audrey’s ex-boyfriend and the failed business.
Bradly and Griffin start fighting to impress Audrey. They have a dance-off in her class. Bradly shows up because it is the part in the movie when Audrey and Griffin are turning it around.
Audrey coordinates the largest Christmas Kickline in town history, which sure is a thing.
Bradly takes Audrey out for a second first date. She tells him that she is thinking of staying in town and working at the studio. She might also be in love with Griffin.
The town votes to build the resort, and Audrey is crushed. She goes outside for some fresh air and is followed by Griffin, who has recently rejected his dad’s offer to become CFO. Audrey also rejects Bradly’s engagement proposal and a job offer.
Griffin decides to incorporate the design of the resort with the needs of the townspeople. Everyone is impressed with him. He is thrilled to hear Audrey has broken up with Bradly and that she is planning on staying in town and teaching classes. He will also stay to make sure his vision becomes a reality. They kiss under the Mistletoe.
Side Note
It seemed like a no brainer for the big three networks to get into the Christmas movie game, this one however feels like a relic from an earlier time.
